LA Kings vs Buffalo by 20Legend
LA Kings continued their good form recently by taking down a struggling Edmonton Oilers (2-1) in their last game two days ago. Although it was another win, it was not a very impressive one as they let Edmonton Oilers score the first goal, before waking up in the third period and ceiling the win by two goals. It was their fourth consecutive game where only a total of three goals have been made, in which the latest three has ended with a win. Their forward Tyler Toffoli stated after the game that his team needs to be more ready from the start of the game. He has a point as his team has some problems on scoring these days, and it will only be a matter of time before they will pay for it by losing. So far the margins have been with them, but they can be beaten with the same performance tonight, as Buffalo Sabres comes from a huge performance themselves last night. It is expected that Jhonas Enroth would start against his former team in this match. He has a 2.19 GAA and .926 SV% this season. Defensman Rob Scuderi was acquired from Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, as the Kings gave Christian Ehrhoff in return. Scuderi is a leader will bring a huge experience to their defensive setup.
Buffalo Sabres really surprised in their game last night as they beat San Jose Sharks (1-3) in regular time. It was needed for them after experiencing two narrow defeats by a single goal against Pittsburgh Penguins (3-4) and Anaheim Ducks (1-0). Their coach Dan Bylsma stated before the game against the Ducks that he would priorities to get more players in front of each goal, in order to disturb their opponents rhythm. You could see them doing that against the Ducks, but they gave it up only once in the power play. However, they clearly build on that statement and the Sharks looked paralyzed at times. The Sharks got in front after just 01:28 out in the first period and kept their lead long into the second period as well. The Sabres then got back 1-1 before the third period. The Sabres continued disturbing the strong shooters at the Sharks and also got in front after 12:40 on the clock. It was therefore the Sharks who had to hunt for the equalizing goal in the dying minutes of the game as they pulled their goaltender with over a minute left. When they did not succeed, Evander Kane got the honor of putting the empty net goal as he made the final score 1-3. Their goaltender Chad Johnson made 24 saves in 25 shots, but it is still likely that Robin Lehner will get his sixth start in the last seven games. He saved 28 of 29 shots against Anaheim Ducks and has a total 2.34 GAA and .930 SV% this season. He has also conceded one goal or less in four of his last five starts.
It could be a lot more interesting game tonight given LA Kings’ struggles to score goals, while Buffalo Sabres seems to be onto something these days. I think we therefore could be in for another close match here and under 5.5 goals seems like a good option.
