KuPS vs Mariehamn by Isaiah
KuPS comes into this one after a positive trend of results, as the team remains undefeated in last six Veikkausliiga, having four victories and two draws in last weeks. Most recently, they didn't manage to get another positive result, as the team stood only to a goalless draw away from home against rock bottom placed JJK Jyvaskyla.
After some pretty decent results, players of KuPS failed to be more threatening and concrete in attack against Jyvaskyla last Wednedsay evening, in overall quite a passive game. Hosts did close to nothing in attack, KuPS was more concrete but it wasn't enough this time, while the ball possession was shared equally between the sides. The team is now at fourth position, having just four points less than leaders from Helsinki and need to get a three pointer here.
Mariehamn is having plenty of ups and downs so far in the season, as the team remains inside the middle of the table and their path is yet to be determined. After three consecutive matches without a victory in previous weeks, they managed to get a three pointer last time out winning at home over Rovaniemi with a 2:1 result on last Wednesday's evening.
They were way better than the opponents and actually the final result could have bigger margin victory for them, just in case their offensive players were just a bit more concrete in attack. They took the lead in tenth minute with a goal from Ekhalie and even though the visitors leveled up in 58th via Taylor, players of Marienhamn quickly re-installed the lead thanks to Lyyski in 64th minute. The team is now at sixth position, four points behind European positions and five more than relegating worried HIFK.
I expect this match to be way more open than the most of Finnish games. KuPS is on a fine form now and I can't see them being poor in attack twice in a row, while Mariehamn finally got the right result and should be more attacking here, knowing that they can't get anything by standing behind the ball.
