Italy vs Portugal by Shibby
International friendly tonight between two very talented countries. Italy vs Portugal in a 19:30 kick off. Both Portugal and Italy are interesting teams and both are very capable of scoring goals. I know this is only a friendly, however, it’s a mouth-watering game from a neutral perspective. Both teams have players capable of scoring goals in my opinion. Although I am a fan of the Italian defence, I’m also aware that Ronaldo is in fine form and my favourite player at present.
The game will be played at Stade de Genève so in reality Italy will have the home advantage, however, I don’t think this makes too much difference with International football (just my opinion). Italy head into the game in quite consistent form, not winning form, however, they are hard to beat lately. Their last defeat was a 1-0 loss to Uruguay in the World Cup in June 2014. Since then they’ve had 9 games without loss. 5 wins and 4 draws, 5 of these games has seen BTTS.
Italy head into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw against Croatia, this game was played behind closed doors due to issues with the fans etc. This was a qualifying game so I understand and appreciate that more was at stake, however, this game will not be taken lightly by either team. Mario Mandzukic gave Croatia an early lead (11thminute). Candreva equalised in the 36thminute when he converted a penalty. The game was a heated one which saw several yellow cards (even a 90th minute red for old boy Srna). For me the Italians have always been strong defensively and I’ve always been a fan of how difficult they are to break down, however, I hear that legend Buffon will not be risked and will be huge loss for the Italians. Also, against strikers in form they will struggle, Ronaldo is a man on a mission and I’m sure he will be looking to get on the scoresheet again tonight. Italy have a few injury concerns, especially with some key defenders, therefore, I see them conceding at least one goal vs a strong Portugal.
Portugal head into the game in decent form, their skipper and goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo has been in fine form for club and country and I can’t see him wanting to slow down! They’ve lost just once in their last 6 games, this was a shock 2-0 defeat to Cape Verde Islands! Which no one expected! Some of the teams they’ve won have been good too, they beat Argentina 1-0 in November which shows they do take friendlies quite seriously. Their last game was an amazing 3-2 victory over Armenia, ok, everyone expected Portugal to win comfortably, however, defensively they’ve not been great lately and have conceded goals in their last 3 games(Serbia, Cape Verde and Armenia the opponents). Yet again they relied on their star striker Ronaldo to save them with his 7000th hat-trick (slight exaggeration).
I fully expect both teams to field a decent team even though this is a friendly, also, with both teams wanting to win I expect a decent game of football. I’ll be backing BTTS (Both teams to score) @ 2.00 with BetVictor. Good Luck all. For more bets and combinations/accumulators etc visit my personal website www.betshibby.com.
