Ingolstadt vs Darmstadt by Gustav
After four rounds without a victory, Ingolstadt improved a lot in previous days, as the team comes from their second consecutive victory and are alive again in the relegation battle. The side firstly won in front of own fans Mainz 2:1 during the weekend, but then also impressed on the road against Augsburg winning the match with 3:2 result on Wednesday evening.
It was one of the most interesting matches of the day, as the guests entered the clash strongly and took the double lead during the middle of the first halftime with goals from Kittel and Cohen, as they looked very resilient from the first moment and even took the 3:0 lead in 67th with Cohen again being a scorer. Hosts were only able to reduce the deficit, with two goals inside the last fifteen minutes, via Verhaegh and Altintop, but without complete revert of hte scoreline. The team is now second from the bottom, more importantly with just four points less than safely placed Mainz and need a victory here.
Hosts should be set in 3-4-2-1 formation with Lezcano leading the attack and Gross and Leckie as offensive midfielders. Right back Florent Hadergjonaj (19/1) is suspended for this one, with forward Moritz Hartmann (14/1) being injured.
Darmstadt, on the other side, couldn't do much more last time out in their third consecutive defeat now, as the team suffered 0:2 loss against Leverkusen without being really active in the attack. Things to be worse, it was their third game without a goal scored now.
Visitors from Leverkusen improved after many ups and downs, taking the lead in 15th minute via Brandt, sealing it with the second goal from Volland in 56th minute, while Darmstadt didn't find a way to get back into the match. The team is now at last position at the table having just fifteen points earned, which is fourteen less than play-out placed Augsburg and with just mathematical chances for salvation.
The guests should be lined up in 4-2-3-1 formation with Boyd as number nine, plus Sam, Vrancic and Heller as support in offense. Right back Sandro Sirigu returns after suspension, while injured are central defender Peter Niemeyer (15/0), offensive midfielder Denys Oliinyk (3/1) and midfielder Jan Rosenthal who has some chances of making the game.
Ingolstadt is in a way better momentum now, surely having more of individual quality as well and I see them being victorious now once they need the victory the most. They should have no problems overpowering the opponent well before the final phase of the clash.
