Ingolstadt vs Darmstadt by Gustav
After two matches without defeat, Ingolstadt once again surprised their fans in a negative way, this time on the road to Bochum where they suffered 2:0 defeat on Sunday afternoon. Their opponents simply went into the game with more courage and bigger will to get something out of it, scoring goals within three minutes, in 24th minute via Bastians and three minutes later doubling up the lead via Kruse.
They did try to react later on and had some chances and shared the ball possession equally with the opponent, but it wasn't enough for the scoreline to change. The side is still expected to react and bounce back with some consecutive victories in order to get back to the first part of the table since their lineup looks strong and they did relegate from Bundesliga previous season, surely being one of the candidates for promotion before the season, so a victory here remains a must for them. Home team has no absentee worries for this one.
Darmstadt had a great chance to get away with a victory last weekend on Sunday afternoon, but the side was limited and held to a 3:3 draw against Dynamo Dresden. They had more ball possession and better chances created, but once again their defensive lineup had too many signs of weaknesses and really looked desperate at moments.
Visitors had a star player back on that day, as their midfielder Konrad scored all three goals, bringing twice the visiting side into the lead in 23rd, with the hosts replying via Kempe in 30th, but he scored another one in 34th. His third goal came in 80th minute and everyone thought that's a three pointer for Dynamo, however hosts reacted and deservedly somehow reached the point here via goals from Boyd in 90th and Kempe in fourth minute of additional time. This was third game in a row without defeat, as the side remains fourth at the table with just four points less than leaders from Dusseldorf.
Guests will continue to miss midfielder Niemeyer (1/0), while doubtful with some chances to play are midfielder Grosskreutz (8/3) and forward Platte (2/0).
Having in mind Darmstadt started better and are close to the promotional placed, they will surely aim to get back with something here, while Ingolstadt seems desperate to revert the things around and will seek for a victory. Since Darmstadt does much better in attack than their defensive lineup is reliable, three goals scored doesn't seem much of a task for these two teams.
