Horsens vs Nordsjaelland by 20Legend
Horsens has done their things very well this season with a current surprising 6th place to show for. 3-4-2 and 14:13 on goal difference has given the club 13 points and a nice chance to follow the top six teams into the Championship group. They were up against the superior league leaders FC Copenhagen (0-2) last time out and did a respectable performance.
After three wins in a row, Horsens had plenty of self-confidence towards the meeting, but FC Copenhagen was simply too good for them. The first mistake came from Horsens already after 15 minutes as defender Sanneh lost a dual with Copenhagen’s Anders Cornelius. The goalkeeper Dannevang reacted way too slowly, which left Cornelius with the simple task of scoring 0-1. Horsens then had a huge chance of equalizing when Lasse Kryger received a pass right in front of goal, but he managed to put the far over the goal. It got worse after 30 minutes, when Thomas Delaney got to send away a show without being pressured and 0-2 was a fact.
The guests had full control as the second half began and Horsens used more and more energy on chasing the ball. Copenhagen got some dangerous free kicks and tested both the goalkeeper and hit the bar, while Horsens looked rather disorientated. Horsens tried to put Copenhagen under pressure towards the end, but their legs were too tired and it was no powers left in order to chase a goal. All in all, it was a great team performance by Horsens, who sacrificed a lot of energy. However, the opponent was just too good for them.
It has not been any great season at all for Nordsjaelland so far with 2-1-6 and a 12th place at the table. Only seven points in nine games is rather disastrous, and that is also the word when describing their last performance against 10th placed Sonderjyske (2-3) at home. The first half was textbook though as Nordsjaelland went up 2-0 until halftime. They controlled everything and should have scored at least three with Tobias Mikkelsen missing a one-on-one chance with the keeper. Sonderjyske was limited into two decent chances, but without any indication of danger.
However, it seemed like all their believing in three points was left behind as the second half started. Sonderjyske took over everything inside the first 20 minutes and turned the game around with three goals before the clock had shown 65 minutes. Lack of willing to tackle and horrible will to take the defensive runs were two factors of why it went so wrong. Nordsjaelland desperately tried to change things with a couple of offensive substitutions, and had good chances with both Fellah and Bartolec without getting results.
It all ended with a horrific loss for Nordsjaelland and it was also deserved when you look at that half. Sonderjyske had not won a single game before this match which makes the humiliation even bigger. It was also the second time in a row that Nordsjaelland lead to halftime, before conceding three goals in the second half. The players’ most important lesson will be to remain focused through 90 minutes, starting tonight.
It is two teams with different experiences in this match. Horsens lost as predicted against FC Copenhagen, but has three wins prior to that and an impressive 6th place to show for. Nordsjaelland are struggling and has two straight nightmares behind them before heading to CASA Arena. Nordsjaelland has great traditions in these games with 5-0-0 from the last five meetings. However, I believe in a more open match tonight with both teams definitely having the chance of scoring. I think both teams to score seem like a nice pick.
