Heerenveen vs Gronigen by Sunshine
Already five rounds into the new season, Heerenveen made a decent start into the new season, however they will try to get back to the winning ways as they didn't win in last three matches. Good start with consecutive victories over Az Alkmaar and Breda was spoiled a bit with a defeat at home against Heracles 2:4.
However team showed good performances in next two rounds taking draws against Ajax and Twente, teams that are between the top ones in the country. However it must be said that they were lucky in last two matches against Ajax and Twente, as both of opponents dominated the field and had more chances as it looked like the players of Heerenveen were close to suffer defeat. Coming back to home matches, they will try to get the new victory as their team didn't look that bad in previous matches at all, although coach van Basten wasn't fully satisfied with the roster but team continues to perform okay.
Substitute goalkeeper Vandenbussche is injured, but wouldn't play anyway, while the team continues to play without left back Jukka Raitala who is already long term absentee, substitute offensive midfielder Marco Pappa has recovered from injury and might be given some playing time. Their important players Finnbogason and de Roon are expected to be back in the starting lineup, so the manager van Basten will revert back his formation to 4-3-3.
Groningen, on the other side, has exactly the same start of the season as their today's opponents. After two victories at the start, over NEC Nijmegen 4:1 and Utrecht 2:0, but then suffered defeat to Cambuur 4:1 away from home. Just as their opponents, they are also coming from two consecutive draws, against Go Ahead Eagles 3:3 and at home against Ajax 1:1 in their last match.
However, on contrary to Heerenveen, they were did much better against Ajax, having more goalscoring chances out of little ball possession transforming very well on counter attacks. Just as their opponents, it seems that the club will have to improve their defensive lineup as they have conceded nine goals in five matches. Young left defender Lorenzo Burnet (1/0) is out with an injury, same as offensive midfielder Mischael De Leeuw (2/1), while talented winger Krisztian Adorjan (2/1) is suspended as he received red card in a match against Ajax.
Tradition of these two sides is completely on the side of goals, while both of the teams have entered the season being in much better offensive form, then when speaking about their defenses. Goals are written all over the game and everything except a goal festival would be a small miracle.
