Heerenveen vs AZ Alkmaar by Neuro
Heerenveen only had a goalless draw at home against NAC Breda in the previous round of Eredivisie, but the overall impression is that the hosts deserved something more out of it. They were the ones who had more of chances created, having much more of the ball possession, but lacked more efficiency in the final effort in order to walk away victorious.
It was a slight setback for them, as the game was played in front of their own fans, but the team still remained seventh at the table, having six points more than seventh placed Cambuur and still looking quite safe for their play-off ticket. They didn't win last two matches at home, previously getting defeated against Ajax 1:4, so no doubt that the players will be completely fired up to show that their quality is better than what they were showing in previous couple of games. Central defender Jordy Buijs (12/0) and offensive midfielder Lerin Duarte (9/0) are both injured for the home side.
AZ Alkmaar suffered heavy defeat at home last weekend, as the team welcomed Feyenoord and stood with empty hands in a 1:4 defeat. It was a very disappointing performance for them, as the hosts never looked threatening, while the visiting side had three goals lead already before the halftime whistle.
Only goal they scored was an own goal back in 87th minute, while the overall impression is that the players of AZ should forget this game as soon as possible. They are now seven points below Feyenoord, with very little chances to catch the direct Europa League ticket, while the team needs a victory here in order to stay at the fourth position. Central defensive duo Wesley Hoedt (21/1) and Jan Wuytens (5/0) are both doubtful, which should mean that Derrick Luckassen continues to play in the heart of defense. Meanwhile, striker Aron Johannsson is hoping to return to the starting eleven after not playing from off against Feyenoord.
Heerneveen is not in the best possible shape, but will be seeking three points here in order to remove all the doubts regarding their placement in play-off stage. AZ Alkmaar, on the other side, needs points as well, in order to try to get the third position, but at the same time, to remain at fourth position. Most of their matches have ended easily in over goals and today should be no difference.
