Hannover vs Wolfsburg by Gustav
Hannover surprised most of the punters on Saturday evening, when the team managed to celebrate 2:1 victory away to very in-form Stuttgart. That victory came after eight consecutive defeats in Bundesliga for them and surely did improve their morale now. Hosts were better, did create more and were dominant, but Schulz had his day and managed to revert the scoreline after being 1:0 down in 18th minute.
The team once again feel that they can get the salvation, being still at the rock bottom position, but now with only four points less than play-ouf placed Werder Bremen and only six points below safely placed Eintracht Frankfurt. There is no other option for them now, but to try to exploit the current atmosphere and try to attack and get all three points against surely better side Wolfsburg. Hannover is set to play in 4-3-1-2 formation with Karaman and Wolf as their strikers. Home side won't be able to count at striker Hugo Almeida (4/1) since he remains suspended, while they also have couple of more long term absentees - forwards Adam Szalai (3/0), Uffe Bech (9/1) and Charlison Benschop (9/1) and central midfielder Leon Andreasen (15/2). Central defender Alexander Milosevic will probably return to start from the first minute. Hiroshi Kiyotake is also fit again.
Wolfsburg tried, but couldn't do much more in their defeat last Saturday evening when the team welcomed Bayern and showed why they are not very concrete in the race for European tickets this season, suffering 2:0 defeat. They looked better at moments than their rivals, however didn't manage to convert any of their chances into goals, while the Bavarians had more of the ball possession and coverted their chances better.
Coman opened up the scoreline in 66th minute, while Lewandowski sealed the victory eight minutes later, once again leaving the players of Wolfsburg to create opportunities, but without any effectivity. The team is now with only one victory in last ten matches and really under pressure to respond here. They are at eight position currently, being four points behind Europa League placed Leverkusen and five points behind Glabdach that stands on Champions League position and everything except a victory here would be surely a negative result for them. Wolfsburg will probably continue to play in 4-2-3-1 formation with Kruse as their striker and Vierinha and Schafer on the wings and Draxler as offensive central midfielder. Robin Knoche will replace injured Naldo (29/2) at the position of center back. Goalkeeper Diego Benaglio (23/0) remains injured, as well as forward Bas Dost (16/7) and right full back Sebastian Jung (11/0).
Nobody expected Wolfsburg to celebrate last weekend against Bayern, but still the team needs to get back to positive performances after that defeat. Hannover, on the other side, boosted their morale with an unexpected victory and should be able to give a decent performance here. Overall, I believe that this will be very intense game from both ends, with both teams having enough goalscring chances to score once at least, but also to make the game very interesting and attractive to watch.
