Guingamp vs Nantes by Lucien
After three consecutive draws previously, Guingamp suffered their first defeat at home this season, as the team welcomed Nice and lost the match narrowly with a 1:0 result. Guests opened the match better and took the lead in fifth minute already via Belhanda, while the players of Guingamp remained better for the rest of the match, however without changing the scoreline till the end.
Maybe the draw would have been a bit more fairer outcome, but Nice did what was needed and generally looked decent at the back during the ninety minutes. Guingamp now stands at seventh position with twenty-three points, which is just two points less than fourth placed Lyon and the team remains in a must win situation here if they are to compete for European exit.
Guingamp should be playing in 4-3-3 formation with Coco, Salibur and Briand as forwards. Left backs Reynald Lemaitre and Dorian Leveque are sidelined with injuries from the start of the season, while doubtful for this match remains forward Sloan Privat (11/2). Moustapha Diallo is sure to get back into the starting eleven, but coach Antoine Kombouare could change very little otherwise.
Nantes, on the other side, continues with their poor form, as the team welcomed Lyon last Wednesday evening, suffering heavy 6:0 defeat. The team generally looked poor during previous weeks and it seems like such defeat was inevetible in the end. Visitors from Lyon simply looked way more stronger and completely superior in comparison to the modest opponent.
With three goals inside both halftimes, Lyon celebrated their biggest victory this season completely deservedly, leaving players of Nantes with a lot of worries. It was sixth consecutive match without a victory for Nantes, as the side also didn't score a single goal in last three games. They are currently second from the bottom, having two points more than rock bottom placed Lorient, but the biggest worry remains only nine goals scored in fifth matches, something that is far below Ligue 1 standard.
Visitors from Nantes should also be lined up in 4-3-3 formation with Oliko, Sala and Harit as forwards. Defensive midfielder Valentin Rongier (10/0) is injured and should be their only absentee. Adrien Thomasson is set to return here after being suspended.
- Guingamp are undefeated in 10 of their last 11 home matches against Nantes.
Guingamp suffered their first home defeat last time out and now need to improve here. There no doubt that the team have showed much more than Nantes, team that almost constantly disappoints. Visitors are under great pressure, are doing very little in attack during the whole season and this game might be too much for them in order to put stop on their worries. I see chances for Guingamp to win bigger way above 50%.
