Guingamp vs Lorient by Isaiah
After two consecutive defeats of Guingamp, they are coming into this game from a morale boosting 2:0 victory over Chateauroux few days ago in the Cup competition. Having rest few important players, they were unable to dominate from the first moment, but still had no difficulties overpowering their opponents in the second half when they rose the lever of display.
Goals came in 61st minute via Beauvue and near the end of the full time from penalty kick taken by Giresse. Previous to that, they were defeated by Monaco in League Cup competition and away to Marseille in Ligue 1 game last weekend, so it can't be said that their form is in downtrend - but simply that their previous opponents were too strong, for most of the French teams. After a disastrous start, team is now five points above the relegation zone and will surely look to escape even further. Defensive midfielder Lionel Mathis (24/0) is still out injured, same as offensive midfielder Sylvain Marveaux (16/2). First choice goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa (8/0) is also still injured, while the team misses few players due to African Cup of Nations: right back Baissama Sankoh (8/0), midfielder Sambou Yatabare (12/0) and striker Ladislas Douniama (8/1). Their top goalscorer Claudio Beauvue will start here fresh as he was playing only one halftime in the Cup game few days ago.
Lorient, on the other side, broke a streak of four consecutive defeats in all competitions, coming from a narrow 1:0 victory over Lille last weekend at home. It was generally a very open game from both sides, that deserved a few more goals scored, but in the end it was quite a fair result as the hosts showed more creativity during the ninety minutes.
Only goal was scored in 57th minute via Guerreiro, with the visitors being a bit more concrete since then, but without any effectivity. As said, they finally won after four matches, being now three points above the relegation zone. However, they have three consecutive defeats on the road and will surely be happy now with a draw. Important players Lamine Kone and Maxime Barthelmé have been called-up by Sylvain Ripoll as they have recovered from injuries, but the guests still continue to have very long absentee list. Offensive midfielder Yann Jouffre (9/0) has recovered from injury, but won't play here being very unfit. Injured still remain offensive midfielder Mathieu Coutadeur (10/0), left midfielder Bryan Pele (10/0) and forward Julien Quercia who didn't play yet this season. Forward Sadio Diallo (10/0) is doubtful for this one. Finally, right back Lamine Gassama (18/0), forward Jordan Ayew (19/6) and midfielder Didier Ibrahim (5/0) are at African Cup of Nations. Visitors have few absentees more, but those who didn't participate anyway till now in the season.
Guingamp is in a very good form right now and even though the draw can't be excluded in this match, betting on them at this moment has a lot of value. Visitors are generally much poorer on the road and the players of Guingamp have every reason to be considered as much bigger favorite in this encounter.
