Guingamp vs GFC Ajaccio by Lucien
After a sluggish start and three defeats early in the season, Guingamp bounced back to positive results and earned their second consecutive victory last weekend. Firstly, they surprised at home against Marseille and won the match with 2:0 result, but also confirmed the revival of the team with a very good performance away to Nice and took another three pointer with a narrow 1:0 result.
Only goal was scored in 76th minute via Sankhare, as the visitors left the ball possession to the players of Nice, but were very threatening via counter attacks and simply showed that they want the victory more in last twenty minutes of the game. Atmosphere inside their locker room is now much better, as the team have won two consecutive matches now and are going confident into this one that they can extend the winning streak. Right back Maxime Baca (1/0) is injured, same as left full back Dorian Levegue (3/0), while Christophe Kerbat remains doubtful after picking up a hamstring injury in their victory over Nice last weekend. Striker Sloan Privat will probably start from the first minute this time, partnering Jimmy Briand in attack, as they together proved to be doing well in duo, with usual 4-4-2 formation.
GFC Ajaccio, on the other side, can't be satisfied with the start in the new season. They did promote from Ligue 2 last season and such starts are usually very difficult, but what worries the most is that the team looks very passive in every single game they played till now and moreover, is yet to score a goal in the new season after five matches played. Logical consequence, they are at the bottom of the table with only one point earned so far, in the season opener against Troyes.
Meanwhile, the team now comes into this game having four consecutive defeats, most recent one being at home against Monaco with a narrow 0:1 score. General impression is that the team doesn't know what to do with the ball when they have possession, while somehow their opponents do score with ease almost always earlier during the game and later on just hold onto the lead without much problems. Second choice goalkeeper Jules Goda will serve his second out of three matches ban, while injured remain central defender Alassane Toure and important midfielder Amos Yuga (4/0). Pablo Martinez might make a debut in the season at the position of left back, while Damjan Djokovic might start in offense for the first time this season. Visitors should be lined up in their usual 4-4-3 formation.
Hosts are coming into this game with improved morale and should be able to get the victory easy or hard. Visitors from Corsica failed to score till now and even though they want to start scoring and earn points, it will be really hard for them to stay competitive against much improved and morale boosted hosts who need to take all three points before they visit PSG next week.
