Guingamp vs Chateauroux by Isaiah
Guingamp comes from a 2:1 defeat away to Marseille last weekend, in a game where they didn't show all of their potential. Home side pushed from the first minute, but both goals for the hosts came in last ten minutes. Only the visitors were able, was to reduce the final deficit to one goal, with a goal in last moment of the game.
Certainly, Guingamp made it very difficult for their hosts, but in any case, players of Marseille were better on the field and deserved all three points. This was second consecutive defeat for Guingamp, team that previously had undefeated run of eight matches. Previous to this game, they also played away from Monaco, certainly having a good excuse for their defeats as they played against two top teams. Their atmosphere remains good at the moment, as the team also continued playing in Europa League, but surely that the team wants to go as far as possible in Cup as well, trying to get one trophy this season as well. Offensive midfielder Sylvain Marveaux (14/0) remains sidelined in next weeks as well, while they will also miss goalkeeper Samassa (7/0) and midfielder Mathis (18/0). Defender Baca (9/0) is also out, same as forward Schwartz (11/2), while defender Sankoh (4/0) and midfielder Yatabare (11/1) are on international duty at African Cup of Nations.
Chateauroux, on the other hand, comes from a 2:2 draw against Creteil last weekend, in a game played at their own home. The game itself, was pretty open from both ends as the hosts preceded twice, but players of Creteil didn't give up at any moment, managing to respond at both situations. However, it has to be said that if any team deserved all three points, it would surely be the home side.
They missed more chances and had more of the ball possession, however the visiting side showed great effort and stubbornness during the game. With this point behind their back, players of Chateauroux remains in the relegation zone, currently being second from the bottom and five points less than teams in safe zone. Atmosphere in the club is extremely ugly at the moment, as the team struggles to avoid the relegation and the Cup game is the least thing they needed at the point. Defensive midfielder Zola (11/0) and midfielder Obiang (13/0) are at African Cup of Nations. Beyond these two, visitors have five more injured players, as they can't count at substitute goalkeeper Millieras, defensive players Bobek (2/0) and Biyik (0/0), as well as midfielder Chamed (15/3) and striker Makengo (14/4) - first and second top goalscorers.
Guingamp has few important players out, but they already played and made a great run without these players, having extra motivation to progress further in the Cup. Chateauroux, on the other hand, also has important players sidelined for this game, but the team surely doesn't need extra fatigue from Cup matches and are surely much more focused on their next Ligue 2 game.
