Groningen vs Go Ahead Eagles by Meese
Groningen managed to take three pointer last weekend at home against Roda in a 2:0 victory. After two consecutive victories in Eredivisie, the team was stopped away to Ajax, but managed to bounce back again to positive ways and continue to be one of decent surprises in the season.
Their victory was completely deserved, as the hosts took the lead in tenth minute with a goal from Mahi, continued dominating the field for the most of the game and securing the victory in 71st minute with a goal from Sorloth. As said it was their third victory in four matches, as they now completely erased the negative start in the season and are currently just five points away from the seventh and play-off placed Twente, meaning that a victory here is a must for them. Home team continues to miss defender Martijn van der Laan (2/0).
Go Ahead Eagles suffered narrow 1:0 defeat away to PSV Einhoven last weekend and actually, it could be said that there wasn't much what the visitors could do in order to stay undefeated. They were simply playing against way more stronger opponent, trying to hold them and standing well in the defense for the most of the time.
Still, PSV scored the winning goal in 68th minute via de Jong, while it wasn't option for the visiting team actually to respond somehow. Go Ahead Eagles now remained at the rock bottom position of the table, having just eleven points earned out of sixteen matches, which is three less than safely placed Den Haag. Away from home they have terrible 0-1-7 record and are by far the worst travelers.
Midfielder Sinan Bytyqi (4/0) is injured, as well as forward Jerry van Ewijk (1/0). Doubtful for the game are defender Sebastien Locigno (2/0) and midfielder Tom Daemen (3/0).
Groningen is going into the right direction slowly but steadily and it wouldn't surprise me much if we see very convincing victory here for the hosts. Even three or four goals difference victory for the hosts wouldn't surprise me much.
