Greece vs Cyprus by Isaiah
Greece has entered these qualifications with a decent 4:1 victory over Gibraltar back in September, as the team actually managed to show one of good offensive performances, even though it came against less than modest side. Scoring goals is something that was problematic for them in previous years and we've seen a bit of improvement which is encouraging for a new start for them.
Being together in a group with Belgium and Bosnia, they simply need to get a victory here in order to keep the chances of ending first or at least in the second position. Cyprus, Gibraltar and Estonia, on the other side, shouldn't be much of a competitive sides in the group and that's where the team simply needs to get victories.
Home team will be playing here without defender Lukas Vyntra (57/0), midfielders Andreas Samaris (26/1), Sotiris Ninis (32/3) and Panagiotis Kone (28/2) in comparison to their usual lineup. All three except Samaris didn't anyway play this year for the national team.
Cyprus, on the other hand, couldn't do much more in their opening game in September, as the team got outplayed by Belgium in front of Cypriot fans with a 3:0 result. Visiting side was simply superior from the first till last moment and easily reached the victory thanks to two goals from Lukaku and one from Carrasco.
Visitors even missed couple of good chances to get the bigger margin victory, since they even missed a penalty in the late phase of the game. Cypriots were limited in offensive part of the game and were mostly trying with long balls and counter attacking that didn't work that well. Away from home the team tends to look even more passive and less threatening, so I really don't see many chances scoring here for them.
Visitors will be missing defender Angelis Angeli (10/0) and midfielders Efstathios Aloneftis (62/10) and Constantinos Makrides (77/5), out of more known guys in their roster.
Greece has the momentum and should be able to reach the victory here. Some offensive improvements might be visible again and I'm sure they will have no problems getting a convincing victory against a bit friendly side that surely can't have ambitions of reaching the first two positions in this group.
