Gladbach vs Hoffenheim by Gustav
Gladbach suffered quite unexpected defeat last time out in Bundesliga, as the team lost at home against Koln 1:2, at the ground where they usually get positive results even when not playing their best football. However, nothing looked that much worrying, since the hosts took the lead in 32nd minute with a goal from Stindl, but paid the price of being too passive at times in the second half.
Modeste leveled up the result in 59th minute during passive moments for the home team, while players of Gladbach started attacking again from that moment, but conceded the second goal against the flow of the game in first minute of additional time via Risse leaving no time for the hosts to respond again. This was sixth consecutive match for Gladbch in Bundesliga without a victory, as they continue to be in the second part of the table with five points more than relegating worried Werder Bremen. During the midweek, they had a draw game against Manchester City 1:1 at home, securing the third position and exit to Europa League at Spring.
Home side should be playing in 3-4-1-2 formation with Raffael and Hazard as forwards, plus Stindl as central offensive midfielder. Ibrahima Traore is doubtful with a muscle injury and could be replaced by Fabian Johnson on the right flank. Christoph Kramer returns from suspension in the midfield, while injured remain Patrick Hermann (midfielder, 6/0), plus few more that didn't play this season at all like Josip Drmic, Alvaro Dominguez and couple of more.
Hoffenheim, on the other side, comes from a 2:2 draw at home against Hamburger last weekend, result that can't be nowhere satisfying one for them looking at the table since the players of HSV had only two points in previous ten rounds before that game. Still, must be said that Hoffenheim was slightly better in that one, but without being good enough to get a victory over improving visitors.
Kostic brought the visiting side into the lead in 28th minute, while Wagner leveled up before the halftime whistle. Even though Hoffenheim took the lead at the start of the second halftime via Zuber, Muller equalized in 61st, leaving domination to the home team however without further change. It was second consecutive draw for them after getting a point away to Bayern, but the team still remains undefeated in Bundesliga, now standing at fifth position with six points less than leaders from Leipzig.
Visitors from Hoffenheim should be playing in 3-5-2 formation with Kramaric and Wagner as strikers. Important central defender Kevin Vogt (10/0) is injured and most likely will be replaced by Emir Bicakcic. Injured is also central midfielder Pirmin Schwegler (2/0).
- Gladbach have scored at least 3 goals in their last 4 matches against Hoffenheim.
- Gladbach have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 6 matches against Hoffenheim.
Gladbach are without a victory in six Bundesliga matches, however the team comes into this match after improved performances againt the Citizens. Hoffenheim are yet to lose the match this season and they look well for now, but will hell of a task to stay with a positive outcome here. Open game is what I expect from both teams, especially since it looks like Gladbach is finally getting back on the right path.
