Gijon vs Zaragoza by Jimeno
Gijon is far away from a desired form and good results, as the side now comes from fourth consecutive match without a three pointer, staying to only a 2:2 draw away from home against Albacete last Sunday evening. They weren't a favorite before the game, but the side entered it in a passive way and weren't concrete enough with the ball to their feet at first.
Hosts took the lead in 31st minute via Zozulya, however repetition brought much better performance of the visiting side that managed to revert the scoreline completely via two goals from Santos, in 63rd and 70th minute. However, Albacete reached probably deserved equalizer in 81st minute via Gaffoor, with neither of the sides being willing to risk a lot later on. As said, it was fourth match without a victory for Gijon, as the side now stands at ninth position, having just two points less than play-off placed teams and just five less than directly placed Lugo, but being pretty much in a must win situation here.
Central defender Federico Barba (16/0) is suspended for this one, while injured remain right back Alberto Lora (5/0) and central midfiedlers Alex Lopez (5/0) and Sergio Alvarez (13/2).
Zaragoza, on the other side, is also far away from a good form, as they have only only victory in last nine competitive matches, but the team also has much less of ambitions for this season. Also, they were busy during the midweek, suffering 4:1 defeat in Cope del Rey game away to Valencia and were excluded with a 6:1 aggregate scoreline on Thursday evening.
As for their most recent LaLiga 2 game, the side comes from a goalless home bore draw against Reus Deportiu last Saturday afternoon, as the team missed plenty chances to take all three points in something that looked like almost a one sided game. They have created much more, but the goals never came and the visiting side stood well in the defense overall.
Central defender Mikel Gonzalez (12/1) remains sidelined with injury.
- Last six mutual matches of these two have ended with both teams scoring.
Away from home, players of Zaragoza are now showing something impressive nor concrete lately and this match comes in a perfect momentum for Gijon to get back on the winning track. There is some certain quality difference between these two sides and if Gijon shows anything close to their full potential, they should be able to get a three pointer here, easier than what the odds suggest.
