Fredrikstad vs Sandnes by 20Legend
After a dreadful start to the season, Fredrikstad is finally looking showing the quality that the team possess. It has been a lot of criticism being headed their coach Jan Halvor Halvorsen’s way, as he brought many experienced players into the team before this season. The club has not been able to come together, but the players seem to know each other better now. 2-2-0 is their current statistics which have almost taken them out of the relegation zone.
Their total statistics is 4-4-7 and 16 points which puts them on a 13th place, with only one point up to the safe zone. A win tonight would therefore bring them up to 11th place and their first taste of being out of the red zone this season. Their recent two games have ended with a draw against KFUM Oslo (1-1) and Ranheim (0-0) last time out. Fredrikstad was clearly the better team against KFUM Oslo, but they did not get the needed margins with them.
However, they continued working hard against Ranheim away from home and grabbed a strong point. Their statistics at home is only 2-2-3 because of their horrible start to the season, but they have captured seven of nine possible points from their latest home games. Striker Moustapha Ndiaye (14/0) is returning from suspension.
Sandnes Ulf has had a tough schedule lately and the results are clearly various because of that. However, their way of playing is not convincing at all and their lack of consistency brings them further down on the table than the club wants to be. A current 8th place after 6-3-6 and 21 points is not nearly good enough for them as promotion is their target. A win tonight would put them back in the race with a 6th position that gives qualification for Tippeligaen. However, the gap up to the teams that fights for direct promotion seems way to big already at this point.
Sandnes Ulf comes from a draw against 3rd placed Levanger (1-1) at home. They created more than enough chances to win, but they gave away their 1-0 lead instead. That was another typical example of their inconsistency this season. They still have the league’s top scorer in Pontus Engblom (15/13) who has scored over 50% of the goals for Sandnes Ulf this season alone.
That makes them capable of scoring in every game as they also have a team with experienced players. Their recent form is not good with 1-1-3 from their latest five games. Sandnes Ulf has produced 2-2-3 away from home with 8:11 on goal difference. They have no injuries or suspensions that really matters tonight.
This is a quite difficult game to predict, but it has clearly been Fredrikstad who has impressed the most lately. The club is clearly on to something after a terrible start and the players are starting to perform as a group. Sandnes Ulf struggles to be consistent enough which often leads to frustration during their games and loss of points. They also have a problem when playing on artificial grass as tonight which has provided all their three losses away from home so far.
It is therefore a bit strange that Fredrikstad is considered to be such a clear underdog here, but it is always a chance of draw lying over this match. I therefore give Fredrikstad a handicap as I think that they will at least get a draw.
