Fredrikstad vs Kongsvinger by 20Legend
After experiencing a salvation of good results after Mons Ivar Mjelde took charge at Fredrikstad earlier this summer, it has been a terrible period for the club for the recent weeks. Three games have gone by with 0-1-2 as a result that has brought the whispers of relegation back to the club once more. Their former negative streak was what made Fredrikstad change their coach, but the clubs recent performances have made them look like the team that did not perform at all before the change of coach. However, it has to be said that their recent point against Krisitansund (0-0) was very strong after being humiliated against Ranheim (1-7) in the previous game.
It was not an offensively strong game from Fredrikstad, but they parked the bus once the understood that Kristiansund had not their best day at work. The game finished with Kristiansund creating the chance while Fredrikstad did not dare to keep the ball once they got it. It was a rather destructive match from Fredrikstad, but it was the right thing to do when you have to get points against the league leader. They are now in 11th place with 32 points which makes them four points clear of the relegation zone with two matches to go.
5th placed Kongsvinger managed to take a very important and strong win against 6th placed Mjondalen (3-1) last weekend. Those points meant that they are secured on playing qualification to Tippeligaen, but the points are still counting. It is now important to secure a best position possible before the qualification starts and Kongsvinger’s natural target should be 4th placed Sandnes Ulf who is in front because of a better goal difference. It looked like it was going to be a tight match between two strong teams, but a horrible error from Mjondalen’s keeper made it easy for Konsvinger to get the lead five minutes before halftime.
However, it continued to be a close game until Kongsvinger extended the lead after 70 minutes. It gave the visitors no other option but to go forward an put pressure on them which made it 2-1 after 87 minutes. However, Mjondalen was continuing to look for a possible second goal, but got punished once Kongsvinger took their chances and scored 3-1 in stoppage time.
It is certain that the home team wants to get points here as they are only four points above the relegation zone. Kongsvinger is secured playing qualification, but are still interested in getting more points in order to take them one place higher among the top six. Fredrikstad is not in a good period now and while Kongsvinger has one loss in the last 13 games (9-3-1). The home team has got 6-3-5 at home while Kongsvinger has 5-5-4 away from home. I do not believe that Fredrikstad can bring Kongsvinger down here, but I expect a close match that can end in a draw or even a narrow win for Kongsvinger. I think the odds on Konsvinger with a handicap given to them are a valuable pick in this match.
