Fiorentina vs Ferreira by Sunshine
Fiorentina couldn't have imagine much more worse Sunday evening last weekend as they had quite a poor performance in a home game against Cagliari in a 1:1 draw, draw that broke the run of two consecutive victories at the start of championship, but they have also lost Mario Gomez who got injured and will stay out of the action for six or seven weeks.
However the team could have earned three points too, as they had some really good chances and weren't given a clear penalty by the end of the full time, while Pizarro got red carded due to protest to the referee. Both goals were scored in last twenty minutes of the game, while the visitors managed to pull out a draw in 89th minute. Coach has said that the team wants to go out and play in the best possible way, saying that he knows Pacos Ferreira was a surprise in last season's Portuguese league and that they will be a very difficult opponent.
Apart from Mario Gomez, Viola will be without Colombian winger Cuadrado who is also out of the action for next couple of weeks. Central defender Savic and midfielder Ilicic are also expected to stay out for this game, due to small injuries they suffer from. Injured defender Hegazy, goalkeeper Lupatelli, winger Vargas and striker Rebic are not eligible to play Europa League anyway.
Benfica hosted Pacos Ferreira on Saturday night, as the team of Ferreira once again stayed without a point earned in a 3:1 defeat this time. It was already 2:0 after 23 minutes, while the guests manage reduce the deficit five minutes into the second half, unfortunately for them, Benfica replied almost right away for another convincing victory.
No doubt that the early start into the season is disastrous for Ferreira as the team counts four losses in first four rounds, being also excluded from Zenit in a play-off round of Champions League with a 3:8 aggregate score. Out of four matches in Portuguese league, they have scored only one goal, conceded seven and are deservedly at the bottom of the table. Coach Costinha might be in a very difficult position very soon in case of their results staying the same, while the target for this game against Viola is not to lose. Tiago Valente and Duarte remain long term absentees, while striker Carlao has a muscular injury. Midfielder Rui Miguel and striker Hurtado will fight normally.
Italian side might not be in the best form and has some absences for this game, but Portuguese side is completely out of form and will surely try to focus on domestic league more, at least until they get a safe position there. Viola seems much better upfront and everything except their victory would be a huge surprise.
