Sociedad vs Rosenborg by Jimeno
Real Sociedad looked decently well during the preparation period and continued in the same manner at the start of LaLiga since the side now has three victories out of first three rounds and generally is the most pleasant surprise for now in the first tier of Spanish football. They opened up the season with an surprising victory over Celta on the road, confirmed it with convincing 3:0 victory over Villarreal and finally, impressed last time out on Sunday evening when the side won on the road against Deportivo La Coruna 4:2.
They had a perfect start scoring two goals inside first four minutes, via Juani and Illarramendi, while most of the match they had more of the ball possession, but the hosts managed to level up the result on time, however with two more goals in last seven minutes of the match (via Llorente and Illaraendi), players of Deporitvo couldn't respond back. This victory might have been a bit lucky, but the team surely confirmed that they are inform, since previous opponents, Celta and Villarreal are far above mediocre LaLiga sides.
Defenders Navas (2/0), Inigo Martinez (1/0), Carlos Martinez (0/0), midfielder Guridi (0/0) and forward Oyarzabal (2/1) are all sidelined with injuries.
Rosenborg impressed at some moments during the season, but it wasn't enough for them to reach the Champions League group stage even though they were close to eliminate Celtic in third round of qualifiers, losing out this clash only with one goal conceded in front of own fans in the second leg. On the other side, they were almost overwritten in play-off stage for Europa League, but the Norwegians managed to defeat all the odds and progressed over Dutch giants from Ajax.
They surprised in the first leg, managed to keep the clean sheet and scored a goal against the flow of the match for a narrow victory, while the opponent was maybe even more dangerous in the second clash and had 1:2 lead for some time, but Rosenborg took 3:2 victory in the end to enter the group stage. As for the domestic league, they come from a 2:0 victory on the road over Stromsgodset last weekend and lead the table with six points more than second placed Sarpsbrog with nine rounds till the end, being red hot favorites to win the title again.
Guests are set to miss midfielder Magnus Stamnestro who is long term absentee without performing so far in the season, plus forward pal Andre Helland (15/4).
Sociedad is surely having at least a bit more of individual quality and are already in good form, however the odds on the visiting side really do have value in this case. No doubt that the hosts are favorites, however Rosenborg already had encounters against really strong sides this Summer and already looked more than well in such situations. It wouldn't surprise me if they give a really hard time to the Spaniards now.
