Lokomotiv Moscow vs Sheriff by DamirJ
Lokomotiv Moscow is doing pretty well so far in quite equal Europa League group, as the team has a victory and two draws, standing at first position alone in comparison to second and third placed Copenhagen and Sheriff Tiraspol. In case they get a victory today against Sheriff Tiraspol, their progress to the knockout phase would be almost sure.
Away in Tiraspol they had quite a difficult game but still managed to pull out a point in a 1:1 draw, even though their opponents looked more concrete with the chances created and must be said, the final result could have been different on some other day. As for the domestic league, Lokomotiv comes from two consecutive victories, both against difficult opponents at home against Krasnodar 2:0 and on the road to Zenit 3:0 last weekend, now leading the table with three points more than second placed Zenit.
Central defender Vedran Corluka remains long term absentee without performing this season, as well as forward Ari (2/1). Midfielder Amir Natcho (no performance so far in the season) and defender Timofey Margasov (didn't play either) are both doubtful coming from injuries, but anyway probably won't be employed in such important match.
Sheriff can't be completely satisfied with just a point taken against Lokomotiv Moscow two weeks ago in front of own fans, since they looked like a bit more concrete team in attack and even though stood behind in the scoreline in 17th minute, they replied well and quickly in 31st minute via Badibanga and remained being at least a bit better.
With just one home game in the group stage till the end, they know that they need a point here badly, so a bit of defensive minded tactics is what I expect. As for the domestic league, the side comes from just a point taken in a home game against Sfintul 1:1 last weekend, with a goal conceded unexpectedly in third minute of additional time, however it's no big harm for them since the side remains leading the table with five points more than second placed Milsami and are once again strong favorites to win the title later on.
Guests should have no fresh injuries worries for this one. Midfielder Wilfried Balima (6/2) is doubtful for this one.
- Sheriff is undefeated in last seventeen official matches.
Lokomotiv is in a great momentum now, but also coming from a difficult game on the road against Zenit. Having that in mind, but also that the team from Tiraspol defends really well when needed, I can't see this match being very open. There's no doubt for me that the guests are coming here to get a point and under such circumstances, we shouldn't see an attacking game on either of the sides.
