Legia vs Sheriff by Isaiah
Legia couldn't do more in Champions League qualifiers as the Polish giants progressed easily over Mariehamn, but paid the price of playing below their standard in the first leg against Astana suffering 3:1 defeat away from home, losing the match deservedly but in details as well.
They attacked in second leg and were better, probably deserved to celebrate with more than one goal difference, but in the end the game ended just as their narrow 1:0 victory, thanks to a goal from Czerwinski in 76th minute, which wasn't enough to progress further. As for the domestic Ekstraklasa league, the team comes from a 3:1 victory at home over Piast Gliwice, as they now stand at seventh position with two victories, a draw and two defeats, being five points behind leaders from Wisla and surely influenced with busy schedule.
Legia has midfielder Radovic (no performance in this season) injured, as well as defender Czerwinski (3/0) and midfielder Kopczynski (5/0). Doubtful is midfielder Jodlowiec but anyway without performing so far.
Sheriff Tiraspol was also unable to impress more in Champions League qualifiers, as they barely progressed over Albanian champions Kukesi only thanks to a away goal rule, but then got excluded against Qarabag after a goalless draw in first leg played in Azerbijan where they deserved to lose, but then got deservedly excluded in the second leg at home.
It was obvious in these two that the opponent was more quality side, as the guests took the lead in 45th minute via Ndlovu, while Michel sealed the qualification in 86th, with Badibanga just narrowing the deficit in fourth minute of additional time from penalty kick. As for domestic league, they have three consecutive victories now, but still are only at second position with a point less than Milsami and a record of four victories and two draws. Visitors should have no absences for this one.
Sheriff didn't even remind to their European level from previous years in these four matches in Champions League they had and they shouldn't be able to respond against a side that competes in much more quality league. With the help of their fans, Legia can easily get the advantage that will make their returning leg much more relaxed. At least in my eyes, the chances are at least close to 50% therefore I'm taking handicap offer gladly.
