Hertha vs Brondby by 20Legend
Hertha Berlin has used this month in preparation towards a new season, but also to be ready for tonight’s qualification. Their opponents during this friendly period has been of various kinds with a huge win against Schwedt (0-10), draw against Nantes (1-1) and a huge loss against AZ Alkmaar (3-0) last time out. The team has decided to make their last training sessions behind closed doors before this game.
Brondby is in a different position compared to Hertha Berlin at the moment as the domestic league has already started. The club has also played in both of the previous qualification rounds first up against Valur Reykjavik (10-1 on aggregate) before facing Hibernian (1-1 on aggregate, 2-1 after penalties). The game against Valur really showed that the club has something interesting going on this season, but the game against Hibernian did also reveal that the level of their opponents will be a lot better as they proceed.
Their league form has also been impressive so far with two strong wins against Esbjerg (4-0) and Silkeborg (0-2). Midfielder Lebogang Phiri and defender Martin Albrechtsen are back in the squad after missing the game against Silkeborg, while defender Patrick Da Silva is missing tonight because of a knee-injury.
Hertha Berlin clearly has the better squad of these two teams and they must be seen as the favorites because of that tonight. However, Brondby is heading into this match as the underdogs which should give them less pressure compared to their previous two games in the qualification. Brondby has also played several matches that counts at this point, while Hertha Berlin will have their first real test here with only three friendlies behind them.
We have seen already in this round that the teams that have begun their season can make chances and goals against those who have not started yet. The match has been sold out and we all know what the German fans are capable of making great atmosphere in order to help their team. I expect an entertaining match tonight with at least three goals involved.
