Genk vs Bilbao by Meese
Genk comes from a point taken away from home against Mouscroun last weekend in a 2:2 draw. Even though players of Genk were twice behind in the scoreline, they were better during the match and actually deserved more out of it. However, Mouscron took the lead in second minute with a goal from Mahmoud, leveling up the result in 32nd minute with a goal from Karelis. Still, hosts managed to re-take the lead three minutes before the halftime whistle with a goal from Viola.
Despite being better in the second halftime as well, all the players of Genk managed was to take a point thanks to a late goal from Karelis again, in 78th minute of the match. After this point taken, Genk remained in the middle of the table, being currently at ninth position with fourteen points earned so far, which is two less than play-off placed Club Brugge. As for the Europa League, they suffered defeat away from home against Rapid Vienna 3:2, but won at home over Italian side Sassuolo 3:1 in the second round and now need to get something here as well, since they can't count much at their matches on the road obviously.
Midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky (no performance so far) is injured, as well as defender Jere Uronen (8/0).
Bilbao comes from a very important 3:2 victory at home against Real Sociedad last weekend. Ball possession was quite equally shared, however Bilbao moved the ball much better and have created way more chances. Still, visiting side managed to take the lead in sixteenth minute totally against the flow of the match, however hosts improved even more in the second halftime and managed to revert the scoreline in first fifteen minutes of the game with goals from Muniain and Aduriz, increasing the lead with a goal from Williams in 72nd minute.
Visitors reduced the deficit towards the end of the game, but that was all they were able to do. After these three points, Bilbao is currently at seventh position, with five points and three defeats, but being only three points behind leading duo from Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. As for Europa League, they lost on the road to Sassuolo 3:0, but won over Austrian side Rapid Vienna. The team needs to improve away from home and can't expect to earn the knockout phase only thanks to their home matches. Midfielder Benat (7/0) should be their only injury absentee for this one.
Bilbao remains favorite in this one and will surely try to attack whenever they have a chance, however Genk will also try to be as offensive as possible and shouldn't be just waiting behind the ball. Goals should come even easier than what the odds suggest.
