Ilves vs Slavia Sofia (By: Stanioooo)
Ilves Tampere host Slavia Sofia in the 1st leg of this EL tie. The match will be played in Helsinki, not in Tampere.
Well, first I will repeat myself that the match will be played in Helsinki, not in Tampere. This is bad thing for Ilves, because they don't have a lot of supporters in Helsinki and the match will be with really low percentage of audience. It's a working day and not a lot of people will travel the distance to support their team. Just to add, that Slavia supporters will be about 20-30, so you can imagine the stadium will be pretty empty.
Ilves finished 3rd in the Finland league for the last season, which is really good result, when we know that HJK is almost impossible to be beaten from the 1st place. This season they started with some ups and downs, they are in competitive form, which is their main advantage of Slavia and are in the middle of the table. What makes me the biggest impression is the fact they are the only team in Finland for the new season, which is without home loss- 3 wins and 5 draws. I watched one of their matches maybe about a month ago against the leaders HJK and it finished 0:0 in a match, where Ilves were absolutely equal to the champions and even had more goal chances to win with minimal result. They play fast football and rely on attacks on both flangs where they have some speedy players. The main threat will be their Cameroon striker Marius Noubissi, who is very young 21 years old player, excellent one-on-one with explosive start towards the opponent sheet. I really don't know how our team will stop him, the chances to score today are too high.
Slavia on the other side is a team, which qualify for Europa League qualifications after they won the Bulgarian cup. It has to be mentioned that it happened quite happily on penalties, after they defended almost during the whole final match against Levski. They are mediocre team in our league for sure and have a lot of ups and downs and it something which happened every single year with them. They can take point/s from the best teams in Bulgaria, but are also capable of losing at home against the weakest in the league. Their official start was a few days ago in the Bulgarian Super cup against Ludogorets. Slavia were absolutely chaotic during the whole match. Ludogorets took the lead in the 30th minute and in the second half it was obvious they played in training mood with thoughts about the match against Crusaders. Slavia have only one chance when they were appealing for a penalty kick, but the situation was 50:50 and it wasn't given. It was obvious Ludogorets can score 3/4 goals without problems to Slavia, if they wanted to do it. They had the possession, created and missed some really good chances, but still it finished 1:0. So, Slavia will make some changes for sure. Their coach has said it was disasterous display and that was the truth. We will see the changes, but on the sheet has to be Georgi Petkov, who is really experienced player, but on age. In attack also have to be made a lot of changes, but we will see what will be the final line-up by Zagorcic, the head coach.
I expect Ilves to take the lead in this match and to keep it. 1:0/ 2:0 is my prediction here. We have really bad memories form another Finland team located in Tampere, which now play in Kakkonen league!
