Espanyol vs Bilbao by Neuro
In the last match before tonight's one, Espanyol took all three points in a game played away from home against Granada with the score of 1:0. The game itself didn't have many interesting situations, all the way till 75th minute when Lanzarote brought guests into lead, while Granada stayed with ten man playing and couldn't do much more in the last moments of the match, with Espanyol taking all three points.
With this result, team of Javier Aguirre made a break to the top six in the standings, as they are having the best start in last eighteen years in Primera. They are still undefeated, having two victories and two draws and in case of a victory tonight, they would be tied with fourth placed Villarreal. Looking individually, the team should have been weaker as they lost key offensive players like Verdy and Wakaso, but they are actually looking much more reliable defensively and have a coach that knows what he wants in every situation. For the first time this season, their coach Aguirre will have all players at his disposal, as central defender Hector Moreno (3/0) and left back Joan Capdevila (still yet to participate) are again included into the squad after returning from injuries.
Bilbao, on the other side, is coming from a 3:2 victory over Celta at their own ground last weekend. They had a lot of defensive problems, staying back in the scoreline after fourteen minutes, but quickly equalized in eighteenth minute by San Jose, while visitors from Vigo missed a penalty shot ten minutes later.
During the second half, they have scored two more goals for a 3:1 lead, by Iraola and Benat, while the visitors reduced the deficit eleven minutes before the full time whistle. With this result, Bilbao reached third victory in four matches and are currently ranked fifth at the table. In case of a victory tonight, they would take the fourth position and be just below three surely strongest sides in the country. Still, they aren't playing very attractive results and were a bit lucky in some situations, as the real quality of the team shouldn't be that high. Coach Valverde is expected to keep goalkeeper Herrerin between the posts, just as defensive midfielder Moran, although they made mistakes that led to goals conceded in previous game.
Espanyol will surely try to get the victory tonight, while the visitors have a lot of quality to make the game very interesting and open. Both to score seems to be the best choice, as the teams are having great start into the new season and both will look to build up on it.
