Entella vs Cagliari by Enzo
Entella will probably be disappointed that they didn't manage to get a point away to Novara last weekend, even though the draw would have been much more fairer outcome, if not, their victory. In the first halftime they were the ones who threatened more and were really close to open the scoreline, however the goal never came. Even though they continued being slightly better in the repetition as well, the only goal seen was back in 60th minute when the hosts got the winning one.
It was scored thanks to Manconi, while the visitors remains being slightly better, but without scoring a goal. Anyhow, coach Alfredo Aglietti has said now that the players can't afford to think about the previous game and the way how did it end, but need to focus on a match against Cagliari, since their opponents are big favorites to promotion and his club needs to regain it's own strength. He added that it's unusual not to convert so many chances into goals and it's something the team can't afford to repeat twice, as it happened in Novara. Only one victory in first three rounds for his team, but it came in only home match so far, in season opener against Cesena 2:1. Midfielder Abderrazzak Jadid remains injured, same as offensive players Ferdinando Sforzini and Aniello Cutolo, all three anyway representing long term absentees without a single minute yet in the season.
Cagliari, on the other side, struggled a lot in their previous game, but still managed to pull out all three points against Avellino last weekend at home with a 2:1 result. They took the lead in 29th minute via goal from Sau that was scored from an offside position, while Melchiorri doubled up the lead in eight minute of second halftime. Visitors reduced the deficit in 84th minute thanks to a goal from Arini.
Even though it looked like a decent victory on the paper and taken without much problems, players of Avellino surprised their hosts with quite active performance, as they didn't try to stay behind the ball and wait for counter attacks, but on contrary, attacked and looked very active from the first moment. With this victory, Cagliari now has a two three pointers and a draw away from home against Ternana, but will go fully confident into this one as they have already won against Entella in Cup competition early in August with impressive 5:0 result. Coach announced that he will make some changes, adding that he has a very good roster in his hands and it allows him to change couple of players without affecting the team. Important central defender Luca Ceppitelli and left full back Antionio Barreca are both out from the start of Serie B.
Cagliari is a favorite here, but I would trust them that much, especially since they did show vulnerabilities in matches against Ternana and Avellino. They did win impressively against Entella last month, but a lot has changed since them and the hosts will surely be fired up now to show that their result against Novara was complete injustice. Both teams to score is my first option here as I believe the chances are well over 50% for this one.
