Elche vs Guadalajara by Sunshine
Elche is coming from a goalless draw last weekend away to Sabadell. Both teams were actually good in the first half, with guests having a clear superiority during it, but the second half belonged to hosts who were more determined and even threatened with defeat.
Anyway, since securing Primera spot for next season, Elche's form is in a obvious downtrend, something that logical after all as they don't need points anymore. A great season for Elche is coming to an end, team that has dominated the league despite predictions of the most of the people being at the first place from the first till last round. Stadium "Martinez Valero" is expected to be full today, so the crowd says goodbye to the team in a best possible way. Team has already started plans for the next season, as the coach announced there will be eight to ten changes in the roster, with already set date for new preparations at July 8th.
Defenders Etxeita (39/4) and Pelegrin (35/0) are still out injured, while right back Suarez (33/1) is suspended, same as left back Albacar (38/8), worries that will make their coach to field secondary defensive lineup.
Much more important that the previous result last weekend, was the decision of Spanish football federation that the team of Guadalajara will relegate to Segunda B from this season on, due to manipulation in capital share last Summer.
This story was running in the shadows for a few months now, but has got the decision last Tuesday. The penalty is still open for appeal and the club has begun the process of it, as they have no intention to remain with their arms crossed. However, as expected there is only frustration at their club right now, something that will surely have influence for this match. With all these things, nobody seems to be concerned a lot for this game, as their biggest battle will be of the stadium in next weeks. Guests will be without injured midfielder Alex Garcia (19/2).
Even though Elche will play with their alternative defensive lineup, hosts are too strong even in regular situation for Guadalajara, while the decision of football federation surely gives an advantage to the home side who will want to finish the season with a victory against shocked guests.
