Dortmund vs Werder Bremen by Gustav
Dortmund had a chance to get a victory last time out and improve their chances even further of reaching the direct Champions League spot, but since they took only a point away to Augsburg with a 1:1 result, the team will needs to get a victory over SV Werder Bremen in the last round.
Augsburg is battling inside the relegation zone, so their motive was obvious too, but it must be said that the players of Dortmund deserved more out of this game, simply being way better side with a lot more of the ball possession as well. Still, the hosts took the lead in 28th minute via Finnbogason and tried to defend as much as possible and even though the visitors leveled up in 32nd via Aubameyang, their victory never came.
Midfielder Nuri Sahin might be back in the team after recovering from ankle injury, same as central defender Marc Bartra. Injured and out are also midfielders Mario Gotze (11/1), Jacob-Bruun Larsen (no performance so far), offensive midfielder Andre Schurrle (15/2) and Julian Weigl (30/0).
Werder Bremen, on the other side, had a great and entertaining match at home against Hoffenheim in previous round, losing it in the end with a 3:5 result. Players of Hoffenheim had a great entrance into the match and were leading 2:0 after just eleven minutes (via goals from Szalai and Kramaric), even increasing the tempo as their morale looked sky high.
Visitors increased the lead via Zuber in 40th, while Kramaric and Bicackic scored each again within first few minutes of the second halftime. Only then players of Hoffenheim lowered down the tempo, as the home team used that well to reduce the deficit and still lose with decent 3:5, thanks to goals from Gebre Selassie, Bargfrede and Bauer. After this defeat, Werder is now without much chances for Europe, being three points behind sixth placed Freiburg and a point behind seventh placed Koln.
Visitors won't be counting at forward Izet Hajrovic (10/1) who is injured, as well as defenders Clemens Fritz (18/0) and Luca Caldirola (5/0). Midfielder Robert Bauer (27/1) is suspended for this one due accumulated yellow cards.
- Borussia Dortmund have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 6 matches against Werder Bremen.
Dortmund needs to get a victory here and I'm sure that much more quality side will take it without much of problems. Additionally, this being the last match of the season in Bundesliga, everything except and open and attacking match from both teams will be huge surprise for me. Three or four goals being scored already inside the first halftime won't be much of the surprise either.
