Dijon vs Strasbourg by Lucien
Dijon impressed in attack last time out especially, as the side managed to get a point away from home against Lyon, in a game where they were doomed do suffer defeat as Lyon looked like sure favorite before the game has started. Even though Lyon had more of the ball possession, players of Dijon responded well via counter attacks and had quite equal share of real goalscoring chances.
Lyon took the lead in 20th via Fekir, but Sliti responded from a penalty kick four minutes later, while they even took the lead in 52nd minute via Xeka, but couldn't stand much in the lead, with Lyon reverting the scoreline within three minutes via Aouar and Diaz (penalty), however Yambere re-installed the draw result in 66th. Hosts tried to do something more till the end, but without much of real chances in the end. Dijon is now just above the relegation positions with five points earned, tied up with play-out placed LIlle and with just two more than rock bottom placed Metz being surely in a must win situation now.
Hosts could be lined up in 4-2-3-1 formation with Jeannot as central striker, plus Sliti, Marie and Chang-Hoon as offensive support. Central back and sometimes defensive midfielder Wesley Lautoa (1/0) is injured, same as defensive midfielder Mehdi Abeid who comes from injury but his full return is not ready yet. They anyway won't change much after good performance away to Lyon.
Strasbourg comes from their fourth consecutive defeat, as the side suffered 1:2 defeat in front of own fans against Nantes last Sunday evening. They were looking like slight favorites before the game, so this result surely is a negative one for them, especially since it's fourth loss in a row. However, they even took the lead in tenth minute with a goal from Costa, but couldn't keep the lead for much longer.
Already three minutes later Thomasson leveled up the result, while the visitors already took the lead in 24th minute, sealing the final result at that moment. Till the end of the match, players of Strasbourg remained with much more of the ball possession and were trying to get back into the match, but it was simply too difficult for them to move the ball well and make some important chance in front of opponents goal. If anything possible, it was first game after three matches that they have scored a goal, but now remains second from the bottom with only four points and this game surely is already very important for them.
Guests will be playing in 4-3-1-2 formation with Saadi and Costa as forwards, plus Corgnet as central offensive midfielder just behind their backs. Idriss Saadi should be back in the lineup after Ihsan Sacko failing to impress. Defender Dimitri Foulquier (no performance so far) continues to miss.
- Strasbourg have lost their last 4 matches (Ligue 1).
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Dijon's last 7 games (Ligue 1).
Dijon is surely coming here with a boosted morale after their point earned away to Lyon and having in mind their good form in attack, it's hard to imagine out of form Strasbourg getting away with something on the road. This game is very important for both sides and I can't see visitors improving now when it's needed the most and they already being under pressure.
