Derby vs Watford by Luke
Derby has entered quite a poor period, as the team is yet to win in last six matches they played in the Championship. Even so, the team is still hanging in the play-off positions, being currently at fifth place, only a point away from the seventh placed Brentford. Position is still satisfying enough, but the team simply needs to change something and improve as soon as possible in order to maintain the play-off ticket.
Most recently, they suffered a 2:0 defeat away to Wolves two weeks ago, with the team showing actually quite impressive performance for whole ninety minutes. For real, they were much better than their hosts, organizing much more chances and creative situations in front of opponents goal, but the team thing they lacked was effectiveness in front of opponents goal. On the other side, hosts exploited all of their gaps and showed to be somehow more mature side. Now, the team simply can't afford another setback, being in close to a must win situation against Watford. Top scorer Chris Martin is set to be back after missing previous ten rounds with a hamstring injury. Midfielders George Thorne and Jeff Hendrick also return from injuries, but John Eustace isn't ready yet.
Watford, on the other side, disappointed a bit with a home defeat against Ipswich two weeks ago by a narrow 0:1 result. Even though they conceded a goal in fifth minute of additional time, they somehow deserved it as the visiting side simply was a bit more concrete throughout the whole game and looked like they want the victory more in the last quarter of the match.
This defeat broke their streak of six matches with no defeat, as the team had five victories and only one draw, being able to climb up at the table all the way till the second position. Currently, they are only one point away from the first placed Bournemouth and have all the chances to finish with the top two positions that lead directly to Premier League next season. No doubt that the target for today's game is to stay undefeated at least, if not to win. Midfielders Almed Abdi and Sean Murray will both be sidelined for this one due to injuries. However, coach Slavisa Jokanovic will also have to change something in the defense, after defender Joel Ekstrand suffered injury in the previous game against Ipswich.
Both teams will be going for all three points here and even though the form fact is with Watford here, first betting choice in this game will go with both teams scoring. Visitors won't surprise in case of taking all three points, but their performances can be unreliable as well, however, both teams scoring should be quite safe option here with neither of the team impressing at the back a lot.
