Viborg vs Nordsjaelland by 20Legend
Viborg is 10th at the table with 21 points with a total 6-3-9 and 15:23 on goal difference after 18 games of the season. After a various finish to their first part of the season (2-1-2), Viborg has been looking good in the winter-break. They have played several friendlies as the other Danish teams have done and they have been looking quite good as well. It is their defensive qualities that have been their biggest strength against better opponents all season so far. Viborg is one of the teams that concedes the least in the the Danish Superliga, but they are also the team that scores the least goals together with rock bottom placed Hobro. It is therefore their goal scoring that has to be worked on a lot in order to climb the table. 1st keeper Peter Friis (18 games) and striker Serge Debele (14/2) have been doubtful for the last couple of days, but are both included in the squad for today’s match.
Nordsjaelland has currently got the 9th place in Superligaen after 18 games so far this season. They have a total 7-1-10 to show for with 18:27 on goal difference and 22 points. Nordsjaelland has enjoyed a nice stay of 12 days in Turkey which was the place for their training camp and they headed back home last Monday. The players are truly excited for the season to start up again after a long break which is understandable. Some new players have arrived in the transfer window back in January, and the biggest signing would be the winger Tobias Mikkelsen from Rosenborg. Mikkelsen was in the club earlier with 96 caps to show for already. Having experienced Greuther Furth for a period, he was picked up by Rosenborg, and Mikkelsen made his contribution to the clubs title in Tippeligaen last season. He did also presented himself in the Europa League were Rosenborg impressed a lot agaistn opponents like St. Etienne and Lazio. It is therefore clear that Norsjaelland has got a more experienced player back to their club. The squad has trained well and most of the players are fit to play. However, striker Marcus Ingvartsen (18/3) will be sidelined for a while after getting a successful knee-operation recently.
It is usually quite difficult to make up a mind on how the match will be as it has been three months without an official game for both clubs now. However, I believe that it will be a low scoring match today as it often does when these two teams meet. Viborg’s 13 of 18 games have resulted in under 2.5 goals this season which is a clear record in the league, while Nordsjaelland has been 50:50 so far with 9:9 on the over/under 2.5 goals statistics. Tobias Mikkelsen will certainly be a nice adding to the visitor’s offense, but both teams have one thing in common; they have not impressed in terms of scoring enough goals which is also the reason why they both are so low on the table. One of their last four meetings since 2013 have gone under 2.5 goals. I think all the excitement and the defensive strict hosts will contribute to a rather close match that goes under 2.5 goals once again.
