Odense vs Aarhus by 20Legend
The Danish league is back in action which is very good for the teams after a long winter-break now. Odense enjoyed a nice ten days training camp in turkey with one club friendly against the Bosnian team Siroki Bijreg (1-1) which ended in a draw. Odense has been lucky in order to avoid injuries on important players during their stay in Turkey and also after they came home. Odense played another club friendly in Denmark against FC Fredericia on February 17th which also ended in a 1-1 draw. Their coach Kent Nielsen is satisfied that his players has been avoiding huge injuries so that he could build the team’s form up to a maximum ahead of the continuing of the season. Only three players were getting some signs of sickness towards the end of the stay in Turkey, while Mohammed Diarra struggled a bit with his groin. However, the sick players were isolated and Diarra is fit to play tonight’s match. Another interesting signing is their new goalkeeper Sten Grytebust from the Norwegian club Aalesund. He has developed nicely through his years in Norwegian football with over 150 appearances for Aalesund, in addition to 2 caps for the national team and 17 caps for the youth-national teams. He is bringing experience to this club for sure.
It is only two players left out of the squad of OB as January’s newcomer and defender Fredrik Tingager (0/0) is serving a suspension while reserve keeper Michael Falkesgaard (4 games) is in training after injury is not selected into the squad for tonight’s game.
AGF enjoyed a nice training camp in Portugal and they were actually good on producing goal chances against good teams in the Atlantic Cup. After losing against Jablonec (0-2) in their first match, the players seemed to respond well going forward. Firstly, Orebro (0-1) was beaten before taking a great win against Lokomotiv Moscow (1-2) after an exciting second half. They met Hobro when they returned to Denmark in a final test before tonight’s match which ended in a comfortable 2-0 win for AGF. Newcomer Jens Stage (0/0) is unavailable due to injury while defender Adrian Lopez (5/0) is suspended to this match. Defender Dzhamaldin Khodzhaniiadzov (7/0) is not with the squad either.
The important games are finally back and both clubs are off course happy as they have all a lot of new energy to release in the weeks going forward. Their recent meetings over the years have been quite spectacular in terms of goals as the last six of seven meetings has gone over 2.5 goals. Even though this would be their first important match in a long time I expect goals tonight as well. Odense has the highest statistics over 2.5 goals with 12 of 18 games gone over; while AGF is not far behind as 11 of 18 games have gone over 2.5 goals. Even though OB is considered to be favorites at home, I expect AGF to continue their nice form from Portugal and give their opponent a real fight tonight. I choose to pick both teams to score here although over 2.5 goals is also an alternative.
