Czech Republic vs Slovenia by Isaiah
Czech Republic will use their last friendly match victory over Belgium 83:68 to boost their morale up as they enter the Eurobasket 2013 premiere against host nation Slovenia, in a group that will be very tough for them together with Croatia, Spain, Poland and Georgia while the team will try to give their best in every game, but the qualification would simply be too much for them.
The team will have to rely on individual quality of Jan Vesely (playing for Washington Wizards) and small forward Jiri Welsch who was also a part of NBA several years ago. Their performances, however, were quite poor in the preparation period, but at least had no injuries and could prepare under the best possible solutions. Apart from already mentioned victory in last game, they won once against Russia and had five defeats, two to Turkey and once against Belgium, Italy and Finland. Being absent from previous two Eurobasket competitions, their target is already fulfilled with being here.
Slovenia is entering this competition with biggest hopes, as they are the host nation and surely have the quality to be among the medal hunters. With a quality and home crowd, their victory should be questionable in this one, while they should also get the qualification to the next round in a quite easy fashion.
Still, the team will be without Erazem Lorbek and Beno Udrih , two great absentees for the home side, but the coach Maljkovic has simply too many quality players inside the roster together with Jaka Lakovic, Bostjan Nachbar, Goran Dragic or Mirza Begic. During the preparation period, they were defeated only twice, to Serbia and to France, while they won over Italy, Montengro, Russia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Turkey and Latvia.
Both teams will have attacking philosophy in this one, while the total points should be easily reached having in mind unstable defense from the Czechs.
