Corinthians vs Coritiba by Enzo
Corinthians is having decent stat in the new season, but the things still can be improved a lot. After first two rounds without a victory, when they only drew to Gremio and lost to Vitoria, the side won over Ponte Preta, Sport Recife and Santos in next three matches. Their performance got obviously improved and the team looked really well, in every aspect of the game, especially in the defense.
The side didn't concede a single goal in these three, being currently at third position in Serie A, with only three points less than first placed Internacional. They were especially concrete and way more superior in the last game played, when the team took a narrow but completely deserved 1:0 home victory over Santos just few days ago. It was achieved thanks to a late goal from Augusto in 82nd minute, but the team dominated from the first till last minute of the game.
Home side should be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Luciano as striker, but also with Augusto, Guilherme and Gabriel as offensive midfielders. Defender Fabian Balbuena (2/2) and midfielder Elias (2/0) are away on international duty, while injured remains offensive midfielder Rildo (also didn't appear till now). Suspended is defender Yago (4/1). Bruno Henrique and Uendel are set to be tired, so they might perform here for full ninety minutes, with Guilherme Arana and Camacho being their replacements.
Apart from a victory over Cruzeiro in the first round, Coritiba isn't having nowhere close positive start of the season, since hte team has earned only one point in next four matches. They lost to Santos, then drew at home against Sao Paulo, but suffered two further defeats later on. Team didn't who much of competivity last weekend away to Gremio when they lost 2:0, but a bit surprising defeat was few days ago when they lost to Chapecoense at home.
It was a very interesting game to watch, since both teams looked attacking, but with huge gaps in the defense. Despite being down 1:0 in tenth minute already via Marques, visiting players reverted the scoreline with two penalty kicks from Rangel and sealed the victory near the end of the game with another his goal, plus the fourth from Gomes, while the home side had also their decent moments, but couldn't do more but a 3:4 loss.
Overall, it was a deserved victory for the players of Chapecoense, while the home side had to sack their coach as a result of poor consecutive performances. Guests should be lined up in 4-2-2-2 formation with Ortega and Gladiador as strikers, with Juan and Ruy as their first offensive support. Kleber Gladiador should return after serving suspension. Midfielder Dudu (no appearance till now) and defensive midfielder Alan Santos (4/1) are both out injured.
- Corinthians have won 17 of their last 20 home matches (Brasileirão).
- Corinthians have won 6 of their last 7 home matches against Coritiba.
Coritiba sacked their coach after their loss to Chapecoense and the team almost surely remains in quite poor state. One way or another, there's no doubt that the players of Corinthians are way better and they should prove it tonight. Coritiba is far away from a powerful side on the road and shouldn't be able to match their hosts.
