Chelsea vs Manchester United by Luke
After last weekend's narrow victory away from home against QPR, Chelsea is now really close to take the title in English Premier League, as the Blues have seven points more than second placed Arsenal, but also one game in hand. Victory over QPR came thanks to a goal from Fabregas in 88th minute, even though the visitors didn't put up anywhere close to a satisfying performance.
It was actually one of rare chances Chelsea had, but the final result is the only thing that counts. This was also their third consecutive victory, as the team generally didn't show very satisfying performance in neither of these three games, but still keep on winning and getting the results they want. They will probably be forced to play with their legendary striker Didier Drogba up front, as their best scorer and one of the best performers this season, Diego Costa (24/19) still remaining sidelined with injury. Due calf problem their other forward Loic Remy (16/5) is also absent. On the bright side, Mourinho has no other injury worry except the one at the top of attack.
Manchester United, on the other side, continued their good run coming from a 4:2 home victory over their big city rivals Manchester City last weekend. It was their sixth consecutive victory in all competitions, as the team completely used the momentum of the game which was on their side and crushed their big rival, without getting into any kind of trouble.
However, the things didn't go that smooth at the start as Aguero opened the scoreline for Citizens in eight minute, while the hosts reversed the result in the first halftime already thanks to goals from Young and Fellaini. Matta and Smalling increased their lead to three goals difference within six minutes, while Aguero only reduced the lead near the full time whistle. Central defender Jonny Evans (13/0) is now suspended for this game, while coach van Gaal confirmed that they will play without midfielder Blind (20/2), central defenders Jones (19/0) and Rojo (20/0) and defensive midfielder Carrick (18/1), all being injured. Forward van Persie is coming from injury and will be available for selection here, but is expected to start this one coming from bench.
Manchester is in a great form and the momentum is with them this time as well. However, Chelsea knows how to get the right result even when not playing well so they remain closer to get the three pointer. Open game is expected with both teams scoring, as the visiting side really does well in attack at the moment, but are still nowhere reliable when talking about their defensive tasks.
