Porto vs Roma by Jimeno
Porto comes from their first official game of the season, as the team showed positive sings in their 3:1 victory away from home to Rio Ave last weekend. Without getting really into the great speed, players of Porto managed to cruise to an easy victory in the end. However, they were the first ones to stay back in the scoreline, as the hosts took 1:0 lead in 35th minute, but got almost an instant respond via goal from Corona four minutes later.
Second halftime completely belonged to visiting side, which took the lead in 52nd minute via Herrera, while they doubled up the lead eight minutes later via Silva, which sealed the victory as well. Manager gas said that the team is now well prepared for their game against Roma and that their target is to play in Champions League this season. Overall impression is that the team looked well during pre-season matches as well, ending it with a run of four undefeated games, making a 1:0 victory over Villarreal in their last game of the pre-season part.
Striker Aboubakar (28/13 last season) wasn't involved in last couple of training sessions and his participation is doubtful for now. Midfielder Brahimi didn't play in the league match, but should be at least on the bench here. Striker Depoitre will not be playing here, since he already played in European matches with the previous team and couldn't be registered. Midfielder Sergio Oliveira, a bit less important player, probably anyway wouldn't play since he had duties with the national team due Olympics.
Roma is once again entering the season with the highest ambitions, trying to win the Serie A title, but knowing that once again it will be very hard fight together with Napoli and Juventus, especially since the second one seems to be stronger than ever. However, it's no doubt that the entrance in Champions League group stage is of huge importance for them early in the season.
They have started with the preparations earlier during July and have played quite a number of matches in order to get ready for the new season, including 3:2 victory over Terek, 2:1 win over Liverpool and two most recent ones, victories over Montreal Impact 2:0 and a 1:0 win over Latina last week in their last game. However, they have changed the team a lot in comparison to the previous season, since one of their key players, Miralem Pjanic moved to Juventus.
Goalkeeper Alisson was signed from Internacional, but not sure whether he will be making a debut tonight. Central defender Rudiger came from Stuttgart, left back Moustapha Seck from Lazio, completing also transfers of El Shaarawy, Salah and Dzeko. Their manager Luciano Spalletti has confirmed that Strootman will start in center of midfield, but didn't want to talk about other ten in the field.
Neither of the teams are in fully competitive form, but knowing their potential and quality in attack, this shouldn't be a boring game. On contrary, I expect quite an interesting one, with both teams showing themselves in good offensive form. Such odds are surely having plenty of value.
