Leicester vs Club Brugge by Luke
Unlike from their Premier League form, Leicester is doing more than fine in Champions League and the team now has a chance to come really close to secure the first position in their group in case they get a victory over Club Brugge. The team almost secured the ticket for the next stage easily and took a draw in a goalless game away to Copenhagen last time out in Champions League.
As for the Premier League, team comes from two straight defeats, at home against West Brom and in the most recent game played, away from home against Watford last weekend with a 2:1 result. It was their third game without a victory, as the team paid the price of entering the game badly, they were 2:0 down already after twelve minutes thanks to goals from Capoue and Pereyra, while even though Mahrez reduced few moments later, the scoreline didn't change till the end. Leicester is now having only twelve points earned, which is just two more than relegating placed Hull City.
English side should be playing in 4-4-2 formation which is usual for them, with Vardy and Okazaki as strikers. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel (8/0) remains injured, while doubtful for this match are: defensive midfielder Matthew James (no performance so far), forward Islam Slimani (6/3) and midfielder Nampalys Mendy (1/0).
Club Brugge, on the other hand, was pure underdog in this group and after four rounds played, the team remains as one of those which showed the least so far in Champions League, having no points earned so far, with just one goal scored and ten goals conceded. They are five points below the Danish champions from Copenhagen and actually stand no real chances of getting back into the race for the third position either.
In the previous game, they lost narrowly away to Porto 1:0, being actually quite decent in defense and doing something more concrete in attack, but still the impression is that the Portuguese side simply played as much as they needed to get the victory. As for the domestic league, team won over St Truiden on Friday night in last moments of the game with a goal from a penalty kick taken by Vossen, contuing their poor run in offense - only two goals scored in last four matches. At the moment, they are fourth at the table with six points less than leaders from Waregem.
Visiting side should be playing in 3-4-2-1 formation with Vossen as striker, plus Gedoz and Vanaken as offensive midfielders. Defensive midfielder Ruud Vormer (4/0) is suspended, while doubtful with injury problems are offensive midfielder Lior Refaelov (3/1) and forward Abdoulaye Diaby (11/0).
- Club Bruges have lost their last 6 matches (UEFA Champions League).
- Leicester have kept a clean sheet in their last 4 matches (UEFA Champions League).
Leicester have almost secured their place in the next round, but a victory here would earn them the top sport in the group. There is obvious quality difference between these two sides and it was easy to understand it from the first leg won by Leicester 3:0. I expect similar score this time as well, with the visiting side hardly scoring this time out.
