Legia vs Trnava
Legia did the proper job in the first qualifying round of the Champions League with firstly a narrow 1:0 victory away to Cork City. In the second leg, they completely outplayed the opponent and controlled the game from the first minute.
Superiority was obvious on the field as they took the lead in the 27th minute via Kante. Once the Polish side scored the first goal, it was far easier for them to continue playing. As the time progressed they were more and more dominant in comparison to opponents, as Radovic doubled up the lead in the 73rd minute from the penalty kick. Finally, Carlitos Lopez sealed the final score with a goal in 89th minute.
In between of Champions League duties the side had domestic matches firstly losing the Super Cup game against Arka Gdynia with a 2:3 result. Their league has also started the previous weekend, as the time suffered defeat at home against Zaglebie 1:3.
Opponents surprised them at the start, taking the double lead via goals from Tuszynski and Starzynski (penalty kick), while hosts reduced in the 37th minute thanks to a goal from Hlousek. Players of Legia had far more of the ball possession in the second halftime, however, couldn't break the opponent. Instead of it, they were victims via counter attacks as the guests sealed the victory in the 87th minute via the second goal from Tuszynski.
Right defender Lukasz Turzyniecki and striker Jaroslaw Niezgoda will almost surely continue to miss due injuries from the start of the season.
Trnava had far more difficult opponent than their Polish rivals now, as they had to face up against Bosnian champions from Zrinjski. The first leg was played in Trnava and it turned out to be very crucial one as the Slovakian side recorded a narrow 1:0 victory.
Zrinjski actually looked more concrete and dangerous in the first halftime, while Tranava responded with far more concrete performance in the repetition. Visitors stood playing with a man less in the 70th minute, while the hosts exploited such situation by taking the lead in the 79th minute via Jirka. Towards the end, they also stood to play with a man less.
Tranava was actually quite outplayed in the second leg, however, took the lead in 15th-minute vi Godal and it was easier for them to play. They switched to a much more defensive role since then, conceding a goal in the 58th minute via Todorovic.
Their domestic league has also started this weekend, as they suffered very unexpected defeat away from home against Senica last Saturday evening. The only goal was scored as an own one in the 40th minute. Players of Tranava were actually far better but simply couldn't score a goal while the hosts snatched the three-pointer with one of their rare chances.
Legia didn't show their best face in domestic matches so far, but there's no doubt that they are very well motivated for the Champions League. Tranava actually had big problems to avoid defeat against Zrinjski and could be even said that they didn't progress quite deservedly back then. Knowing that it should be really difficult for the Slovaks to stop the opponent here.
