Liverpool vs Barcelona (By: MDG)
Referee: Cuneyt Cakir
Return leg of the champions league semis. Liverpool is three goals behind but more importantly with zero away goals. After failing to score from at least two clear chances in the first match, it's safe to say that only a miracle could eliminate Barcelona.
Bigger problem for Liverpool than not scoring away goal is Manchester City, it seems that the title race is over, adding more to the Liverpool's pile of misery is Mohammed Salah's head injury and another match where they will lack Firmino. Essentialy, Liverpool will miss 2 out of their top 3 forwards and Mane will be paired up with probably Origi/Sturridge or Shaqiri, some similar combination.
Remember that Barcelona will not defend here. With a goal they can kill this tie completely. Another factor is Lionel Messi, he's hungry to triumph as the best player this year so both Balon D'or and champions league are his goals. He wants to score as much as possible and he will play another full match. Luis Suarez showed us his more than happy to pounce on Liverpool and score against his ex club.
Barcelona exposed Van Dijk and he could be a liability in defense, dutchman will be eager to prove his haters and critics wrong so maybe a few too many harder tackles and this could be another costly mistake. Seeing how Barcelona is always around the penalty area of their opponent it's possible that Cakir will give a penalty. Liverpool could get one too, home pressure, lots of attacking and trying to cut the lead but most importantly, VAR factor.
If there was VAR last night in Man City game I would have won my bet, I will play the same pick today because of VAR, Cakir and the fact that this match will be very fast paced with a lot of action around the penatly area of both teams.
Probable Lineup Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho; Shaqiri, Wijnaldum, Origi; Mane
Probable Lineup Barcelona (4-3-3): ter Stegen; Roberto, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Vidal, Busquets, Rakitic; Messi, Suarez, Coutinho
