Juventus vs Atletico Madrid (By: MDG)
In the first game we saw only four yellow cards but out of those four, three were crucial for both teams and all three have suspended players. Diego Costa and Thomas for Atl. Madrid and Alex Sandro for Juventus. Stats can be misleading here as by the 55th minute of the match there were already 3 yellow cards shown. Until the end there was only one more card for Griezmann in last minutes but the main reason why cards stopped coming was the scoreline, it was 0:0 up until last 10 or so minutes. Because of that scoreline, both teams were more careful as 0:0 would not be the worst score for either side at the time. Juventus would go back home with no goals conceded and Atl. Madrid with no away goals conceded at home would also be in a solid position for the second leg. This is why I believe we didn't see more bookings and I think I'm absolutely right as this makes perfect sense when you analyze it post match.
Today however is a different story. Atl. Madrid will prepare their defence and try to play their usual defensive football to protect their 2 goal lead. Juventus could show signs of frustration if they won't be able to open Madrid up and we should see a lot more cards in this second leg.
With 75 points in Serie A for Juventus the title has been already won and this is the biggest game that Juventus will play in a long time. Atl. Madrid still have their league to look forward to but with Barcelona running away 7 points and playing easy teams until the end except Atletico themselves, chances are really small we could see Atl. competing for Primera. So you could also say this is the biggest game they will play until next season. With that being said, prepare for warfare tonight.
Score prediction: Anything goes but I can see a red card in this match as it's arguably the most important one until the next season for both Juventus and Atl. Madrid
