Monaco vs Club Brugge
Monaco will host Club Brugge in the 4th round of Champions league at Stade Louis II.
Both teams are really struggling in their group with Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund taking only one point from their match two weeks ago in Belgium. Theoretically, a win for any of these clubs will keep their chances to progress in CL 1/8 finals, but it's absolutely impossible for me. That's a fight for Europe league and the 3rd place in the group. But before the start of this game both clubs have their own problems to deal with.
Monaco as hosts are in a superb downfall during this season. They started good with an away win in the domestic league and then..4 draws and 7 losses in the French League+ 1 draw and 2 losses in CL. They are in the relegation zone after so many poor results which led to a coach' change. Leonardo Jardim left the club after giving so much to them in the last years and Thierry Henry was pointed as a new manager. For three games Henry has two draws and a loss, so that's not the best start for sure. Monaco are still looking for their second win during the season.
On the other side Brugge perform very well in the domestic league and don't have such problems with the form of the players in the club, but they have to fight with the traditions during the last seasons in Europe competitions. Since 2016/17 Brugge have 13 games in both EL and CL and the stats are 3 draws and 10 losses. The three draws were at home, while the losses were both as hosts and visitors. So, to sum up, they have only losses away from home. It's obvious the team is struggling in their travels, but now they will have to meet a team in big crisis and that's a real chance to take something finally away from home.
Monaco will miss Danijel Subasic, Kevin N'Doram, Jean Aholou, Rony Lopes, Pietro Pellegri, Djibril Sidibe, while Stevan Jovetic and Willem Geubbels are doubtful. Brugge will be without Jelle Vossen, who is the major miss for this game, while Arnaut Groeneveld and Brandon Baiye are doubtful.
I was looking for different options in this game and BTTS is very possible to happen, but the odds are very low for me. Monaco still don't have a win since the start of the season(the one against Nantes), while guests don't have as visitors in the last couple of years in Europe competitions. Can't see a winner in this game, really can't give priority to any of these clubs, so I am going with the draw, maybe another 1:1 and the goal difference can even decide which team will continue in the Europe League. I doubt both of them will take any points in the next important games against Atletico and Borussia- the difference between them and the leaders is obvious!
