MOL Vidi vs AEK Athens (By: Stanioooo)
Videoton(I will write this name in the preview, not MOL Vidi) will face AEK Athens in the last CL round before the groups.
Videoton made huge progress in the tournament so far. Well, first they eliminated Ludogorets Razgrad and maybe it was deserved. It's true they faces very confused opponent with a new coach and the attack wasn't productive in both legs+ the red card in Hungary for Ludogorets..it made the job almost impossible and Videoton used their chances to score the only goal in this tie. Against Malmo it was almost the same scenario with both low-scoring legs where the away goal in Sweden(1:1) gave them the chance to reach this round. Infact if we see the stats Malmo were better in both legs with more possession and shots, but couldn't use almost none of them. Now they will have very experienced opponent and the chances to eliminate AEK are very small, but I am sure the Hungarian team will give strong opposition at least at home. The last time they played in group stages(EL) was during the season 2012/13.
AEK have two European matches till now and they were against Celtic. It was a huge surprise for me to see the Greek team to progress, not only because the opponent was the Scotish giant, but mostly because their domestic league is still not started and their form is helped only by trainings and friendlies. Celtic and Videoton started in their leagues, but it looks like it's not a problem for AEK to be still equal and take the results they are looking for.
When I hear about Greek club, my first association(don't want to offend anyone) is for a low-scoring game, especially when the Greeks are the visitors. So, in a match between two teams with strong defenses and the weaker team in this tie is host in the 1st leg, I just can't see a lot of goals here. For me it's absolutely under 2.5 goals, but the odds decreased a lot in the latest hours and they don't have any value right now. I was also thinking about away win here, but there is one interesting tradition which made me give up from this pick. AEK faced 10 times Hungarian teams and they have 5 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. Guess what- all 5 wins are in Greece, while as visitors they are still looking for success. So, this is also not the best pick I can take here(when we add the fact what success I had in the recent days with the straight away wins :D). What I finally decided to play is a draw at half time. Most of these close matches ends with draw and if there's a winner it happens during the 2nd half. Almost the same was in today's match Crvena Zvezda-Salzburg, where I also tried my luck with a draw at HT.
I expect a low-scoring game here( 0:0, 1:1 or 0:1), so will hope AEK not to start very strong tomorrow looking for a goal since the beginning of the match and if there's a winner, to be decided during the 2nd half ! Fingers crossed :))
