MOL Vidi vs Malmo FF
MOL Vidi from Hungary will host Swedish champion, Malmo FF. The game will be played on the Pancho Arena which isn't original stadium of Vidi but they are there already for a few seasons.
Vidi, former known as Videoton has made one more surprise in the first leg of this third qualifying round for the Champions League. Namely in Sweden they managed to remain unbeaten and come back home with good result, 1:1 draw. So, they have now even better result before second leg than they have had last time when faced Ludogorets. Back then game in Bulgaria also was finished in draw but Vidi was without away goal (0:0). In second leg here at home, Vidi defeated Bulgarian champion with 1:0.
BTW, Vidi had to go also in the first round and then they had easy opponent, Dudelange (1:1 away and 2:1 at home).
Malmo also started from the very first round. After easy opening round vs Drita which they have won 5:0 in aggregate score, Malmo has met with Romanian CFR Cluj. The Swedish team passed through but after many troubles. They have won first road leg 1:0 but at home barely saved them from defeat (1:1).
So Malmo could easily be already eliminated from the Champions League which probably would be surprise if we know their national league already passed more than half way through so you expect this team to be on the top of their form. But on the other side if you look on their results in Sweden in this season (they are currently only on 6th position), then we can call a surprise the fact they reached this stage.
In any case, from some shortened segments I had chance to see from their two legs meeting with Cluj, I got impression they didn't deserve to pass through.
Vidi at least on paper should be easier opponent than Cluj was. But first leg proved this is going to be another very tough two legs match for Malmo.
I know Vidi very well. In last season they met with Serbian opponent. I know them in general cause they are led by Serbian head coach who had nice success in Serbia. They have also several Serbian players in their squad. BTW, one of the Scepovic brothers, Sladjan Scepovic is questionable for today's match.
For Malmo wont play Arnor Traustason.
The bottom line, it is hard to predict here who could be in advantage today. But I think that first half Draw is again excellent option. Yes Malmo need to push and to try to score but it's 1:1 from first leg, it's not they are 2:0 down. So hardly Malmo would risk too much, at least not early in the match.
On the other side knowing head coach of the home team, Marko Nikolic, I am quite positive their tactic will be to play very careful and first of all to try to keep the clean sheet while if they get some chances upfront, then even better. But first of all, defensive approach.
