BATE Borisov vs Helsinki (By: Stanioooo)
BATE Borisov host HJK Helsinki in the 1st leg of their CL tie.
It's really tough how to start analyzing this match, when you have to compare teams from totally different levels. Both of them are champions in their countries-Belarus and Finland from the previous season and now they are also in competitive form(in the middle of the new season and both of them are in 1st place with 7 points advantage of the second). Too many similar things, but that's just the end of their sameness.
It's hard to compare two teams in excellent competitive form, but one of them is with stronger squad which also played in the last 9 seasons 5 times in CL group stages and 3 times in EL group stages and second one team, which have only on participation in EL group stages in 2014/2015, beating Rapid Wien in the play-offs. That happens 4 years ago and in the recent seasons they lost away matches even to teams like Skendija and Connah's Quay. I remember one of their matches against Beroe Stara Zagora and they were really good in Helsinki and deserved the win 1:0, which could be even bigger, but in the revenge they got lucky draw 1:1 and progressed. I know what to expect from them, because they didn't make big changes in the squad in the recent seasons and the coach is the same since 2014. They have only one advantage and it's the fact they played two matches in CL qualifications against the Faroe Vikingur and gained 2:1 and 3:1 wins.
Infact HJK can be dangerous at home, they proved it a lot of times, not only when they were in the EL group stages, when they beat Torino and Copenhagen, but also in the recent years with some good home results like 0:0 against Astana. BATE perfectly know they have to take advantage in the 1sst leg to travel much more comfortably to Finland in the next week.
I have no doubt BATE will win the first match. In their last 9 CL matches, no matter in qualifications or group stages, they have only one loss against Barcelona and in this row they earned points even against teams like Roma and Leverkusen. The only problem is HJK often succeed to score a goal as guests, not only in the domestic league, but in Europe matches, so BATE have to be very careful tomorrow. That's the reason to play only home win here- under or over, BTTS-NO or YES is like to shoot in the dark for me. Soo, clear home win with average odds of about 1.50.
