Carpi vs Verona by Enzo
Carpi comes from a very important three pointer taken last weekend away to Salernitana, as the team continued being inside the play-off zone, but also only four points away from second placed Frosinone, position that will be going directly into the Serie A. On the other side, they are five points above ninth placed Entella and need to continue with positive performances in order to establish as good as possible position for the play-off stage or chase even direct promotion.
Their match away to Salerniata wasn't easy at all, but they had a bit of luck since the home team stood playing with a man less since 41st minute when Coda got excluded and visitors exploited that by taking the leading goal in 52nd minute via Di Gaudio. They also stood playing with ten man soon enough, just ten minutes later when Sabbione got excluded with the second yellow card. Rosina leveled up the score just two minutes later, but guests deserved their second goal in 89th minute via Bifulco. As said, Carpi is now at sixth position at the table and are in a run of four matches without a defeat, three victories and a draw and a target here is surely to get another victory and continue improving.
Midfielder Alessio Sabbione (13/0) is suspended now, while sidelined are also central defender Fabrizio Poli (15/0) and right midfielder Lorenzo Pasciuti (17/0).
Verona, on the other side, after three negative results in official matches (exclusion to Bologna in Italian Cup), draw at home against Perugia and previous defeat away to Vicenza, managed to get a narrow home victory over Entella in previous round with a 1:0 result. They were just a bit better for the most of the game, but decided to put much bigger pressure on the opponent in last quarter and deservedly celebrated thanks to a goal from Pisano in 76th minute.
This si surely a morale boosting victory for them, as the team got back on the right path and continued leading the table, now having two points more than second placed Frosinone and probably even more important, four points more than third placed Benevento, position that will be leading to additional play-offs. They have suffered two consecutive defeats in Serie B away from home and will surely try to get a three pointer here, even though knowing it won't be easy. The team prefers a bit more attacking style on the road than most of the teams and we should expect the same from them. Sidelined are central defender Nicolo Cherubin (5/0) and central midfielder Franco Zuculini (6/0) due injuries.
Both teams are entering this match with a lot of to prove, especially visiting side that needs to respond finally away from home. They both have more than decent quality upfront and both with targets to get points here, I definitely see this game being an open one. Both teams should score at least once here.
