Carpi vs Roma by Enzo
Carpi recoreded two defeats in a row, but both of them were more than expected, since the team visited Fiorentina and Napoli in last ten days. They were twice defeated with narrow results, which surely aren't bad results for a team of their reputation, however it represents a huge setback in their relegation fight. They are now five points below first safely placed side Sampdoriaand no doubt that very tough job is ahead of them in order to remain with Serie A status.
Most recently, they suffered 1:0 defeat against Napoli, result that came for the hosts much tougher than what it was expected. Naturally, Napoli was much better and had much more of the ball possession, but only managed to score the goal thirteen minutes after Bianco (visitors' midfielder) got red carded and the guests stood playing with a man less - in 69th minute from the penalty kick taken by Higuain. Hosts should be playing in 3-5-1-1 formation with Mbakogu as striker and Lolo as his support. Midfielder Matteo Fedele is injured, but without performance for the team anyway this season. Injured are also central defenders Igor Bubnjic (9/0) and Emanuele Saugher (3/0), right midfiedler Lorenzo Pasciuti (11/1), while suspended for this one remains central midfielder Raffaele Bianco (15/0).
Roma, on the other side, slowly starts to improve their form, since the team comes from third straight victory, this time at home against Sampdoria last weekend with a 2:1 result. Overall, they were slightly better than the opponents, but could have created a bit more chances in order for their victory to be more convincing one. Still, the hosts took the lead in 45th minute via Florenzi, doubled up in fifth minute of second half thanks to Perotti, while an own goal from Pjanic in 57th made the ending of the game much more interesting, but the hosts did their tasks well in the defense.
As said, this was their third consecutive victory, previous two against Sassuolo and Frosinone, as the team kept their fifth position for now, having only two points less than third Champions League placed Fiorentina, but also four points more than sixth placed Milan. They haven't been that convincing so far on the road with four victories, five draws and three defeats, but the team will surely be fired up to get another three pointer after their win over Sassuolo early in February. Roma should continue in quite offensive 4-4-3 formation with Perotti, Salah and Shaaray as forwards. Right full back Vasilis Torosidis (11/0) remains injured, while doubtful for this game are defensive midfielder Kevin Strootman (no appearance anyway) and central midfielder Dnaiele De Rossi (18/1). Luciano Spalletti will have Radja Nainggolan back in the team.
Carpi is not going into the right direction with their results and I can't see them being very competitive in this one. Roma is somehow improving in their form recently and I see their chances of winning here being above 50%.
