Carpi vs Fiorentina by Enzo
Carpi has rather difficult schedule early in the season and therefore they can't be disappointed with only a point taken in first three rounds as the team had to play away against Palermo and Sampdoria and to welcome Inter in between. Moreover, their current game sees the team welcoming Fiorentina, so there's no doubt that no one in the club will feel under pressure with the team having only one point till now, on contrary.
Despite one point taken, team shows that they do rather well in attack and generally weren't outplayed by their more reputable opponent. In second round against Inter they showed great characteristics and were close to get a point in the end, but conceded a late goal from the penalty kick. Anyway, their first point in Serie A came last weekend away to Palermo, where the team looked a bit more passive but at the same time very concrete in their own attacks. They ultimately dropped two points in 88th minute when Djurdjevic sealed final 2:2 result, while the team looked above decent for the most of the game, being able to respond well after goal conceded in sixth minute and overturned the scoreline with an own goal and goal from Borriello in 63rd who came from the bench just a minute earlier. During the international break, they had a friendly game against Shakhtar and won with a 2:1 result, despite being just a friendly, it will surely use them as a morale boosting factor. Midfielder Luca Marrone (2/0) is injured and should be replaced by Raffaele Bianco. Hosts should continue in a 3-5-2 formation. Borriello will probably start again from the bench.
Fiorentina also had a difficult schedule in first three rounds, but the team survived with two victories, both at home and a defeat on the road. They are now entering this game fired up to take all three points against newly promoted side and show that they will be much better on the road than in previous season, also to improve the atmosphere after their Europa League loss last Thursday evening.
Everything looked well for Viola in that Europa League game against Swiss champions Basel, as the team tookthe lead already in fourth minute with a goal from Kalinic and looked dominant through the game, but once they stood playing with a man less in 66th minute when Rodriguez got straight red card, things got changed a lot on the field. Hosts started playing way more passive and Swiss side used it, taking all three points thanks to goals from Bjarnasson in 71st and Elneny in 79th minute, having no problem to keep their sheet safe till the end. On the other side, team looked rather well in a 1:0 victory at home against Genoa last weekend, but the overall impression is that they should use their chances a bit more easier. Defensive midfielder Milan Badelj (2/0) is now suspended following a red card given against Genoa, while the visitors also might miss central defender Davide Astori (1/0), midfielder Josip Ilicic (2/1) and other midfielder - Matias Vecino (1/0). Formation should remain 3-4-2-1 with Babacar as alone striker and Bernardeschi and Rossi as his support.
Fiorentina looks solid early in the season and is a favorite here, however players of Carpi are more than efficient and didn't have a problem to attack (and score) against club's of similar quality. Viola wants to bounce back with a victory and has the quality, however have harvested points till now only at home and can't be fully trusted - therefore, both teams to score seems like the most logical choice here.
