Cambuur vs PSV by Isaiah
Cambuur didn't show many positive things early in the season, except for a good second half in the season opener away to Zwolle when they managed to net two goals within seven minutes and grab a point in a 2:2 draw. From that game on, they recorded three defeats, against Feyenoord, Heracles and Vitesse. Especially worrying were the manners of their defeats, as the team didn't look actually a lot competitive in neither of these three matches.
They were actually the best against Feyenoord, as the team defended and stood well in defense generally, but suffered defeats thanks to two goals in last quarter. However, third round game against Heracles was complete disaster for them, suffering one of the heaviest defeats in recent history at home with six goals conceded, four already in the first halftime. Finally, they couldn't do much more in the previous round's game away to Vitesse, with the hosts imposing their own tempo from the start, while their victory could have been with bigger margin in case the offensive players were more concrete in the final effort, even though they scored twice in last six minutes of the match. It already looks almost sure that the team will need some further reinforcements during Winter, in case they want to find their away out of the relegation zone. Coach Henk de Jong can't count at forward, Summer signing from Almere City Jorge Hoefraad.
PSV is a defending champion and surely the team wants to keep winning domestic titles, however early start in the season wasn't that promising for now. Prior the start of Eredivisie, they won the Super Cup finale by winning over Groningen 3:0, however their next matches away from home weren't that impressive. As for home matches, their fans can't complain a lot, with the team taking two convincing victories, in second round over Groningen 2:0 and in the most recent game against Feyenoord 3:1, imposing great rhythm and style as the final victory could have easily been with bigger margin.
However, problems occured for now when playing away from home, as the players of PSV already dropped four points, having two draws against mediocre side. In the season opener they took only a point in a 2:2 draw against Den Haag conceding a goal in sixth minute of additional time, while their performance wasn't much better in the third round when they had a 1:1 draw against Heerenveeen. No doubt that everyone is ready to break a bad run away from home and truth to be told, they couldn't await much easier opponent. Coach Phillip Cocu continues to have left back Jetro Williems sidelined due nasty knee injury, who still isn't ready for competitive football. Injured is also Florian Jozefzoon, talented forward. Coccu has no reason to change anything in comparison to the match against Feyenoord and is expected to continue with his 4-3-3 formation with Narsingh, Jong and Lestienne in attack.
Everything except easy victory for the visiting side would be a huge surprise here. Cambuur might score, but so does it won't be much of a surprise in case they concede more than four goals here.
